I was brought up catholic basically forced to be by my parents i am many years older now and no i am not a parishioner of the faith!. I didn't like the idea of going into a booth to tell a priest my sins why in the world would i tell another man my intimate secrets!. Felt i could talk to the Lord myself I didn't need to go thru a priest who is just another human being my personal stuff!. WHY!? he isn't the one I needed forgiveness from nowr did he have the power to forgive me!. My parents were not happy at all!. I did join a baptist church and found more freedom to express myself!.!.!.very spritual! Guess you'll find what to believe in or not to believe in on your won time!.!.Who am i to judge! As long as you are a happy well rounded person!.!.!.ahh! Thanks for giving me the opportunity to express!Www@QuestionHome@Com

You tell me!.

Belief has attained the level of faith when it motivates life and shapes the mode of living!. The acceptance of a teaching as true is not faith; that is mere belief!. Neither is certainty nor conviction faith!. A state of mind attains to faith levels only when it actually dominates the mode of living!. Faith is a living attribute of genuine personal religious experience!. One believes truth, admires beauty, and reverences goodness, but does not worship them; such an attitude of saving faith is centered on God alone, who is all of these personified and infinitely more!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

i have been atheist since i can remember!. however plad it may sound, i think of myself as being realistic more then anything!.This is how i see it!.!.!.Religion is the opiate of masses, familiarize yourself with this thought!. It was thought up By Karl Marx!. Any who believe this and follow his school of thought are thought of as being Marxist in nature!. The word; Opiate, derived from opium, is a drug used by many people in forms of heroin or morphine which cause the user to feel happy, as if all problems are found a solution and the world is less harsh all of a sudden!. Used in the phrase, it means that a form of religion is used to calm the people and making them feel better about their somewhat easily terminable lives!. You sa besides the Catholics and Anglicans, but in reality, the new and old testaments say that this world is a training ground of some sort for a world which will become clearer once you pass away!.
I hope this helped!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I've been through all sorts of religious perspectives, and eventually I realized that none of them are rationally defensible!. There is no evidence for those fantastic claims, and belief in those claims is known to lead some people to be evil!. Because of that, I must be an atheist!. For some, the deconversion process can be a painful one, but one gets used to living in reality!. The sad part is that the majority of people are not, and will think ill of you for sticking to the facts!.

Peace!Www@QuestionHome@Com

Kinda surprised you gave up Buddhism, though since you did, it's not too surprising that xtianity & islam didn't stick!.

Maybe the question you should ask yourself is not _what_ you want to believe, but _why_ you want to believe!. Are you looking for answers to all of life's questions!? Are you looking for a community of like-minded people to share a sense of belonging with!? Do you feel you have to believe in something, anything!? Are you concerned with what will happen to you when you die!?

Right now it appears you're an atheist, and despite what a lot of gawd-fearin' people may tell you, there's not a thing wrong with that!. There are actually two main types of atheism, weak and strong!. Weak atheism just means you lack belief in a god or gods!. Strong atheism is the positive assertion that there are no gods!. Weak and strong are just types, it doesn't mean that weak atheism is necessarily inferior to strong!. Nor is strong a synonym for militant!.

You might want to just take a break from religion for a while, for however long it takes--months, years, whatever!. If you never choose another religion, then just accept that that is who you are!. If you do choose one, make sure you choose it for the right reasons!.

If it matters, I consider myself a strong atheist!. I've been some form of atheist pretty much my whole life, since I started giving any serious thought to theological issues!. My wife is Buddhist, though she's not too deep into the supernatural aspects of it, mostly the philosophy & moral teachings!.

I suggest doing some inner searching on the question of what you're looking for in a religion, and more importantly, why!. You can try reading the book below for some insights into that!. You can also take a comparative religion class at your local college, and if metaphysics is your thing, maybe an appropriate philosophy course!. Good luck on your journey, and don't feel you _have_ to choose a religion!. Ultimately, we must all choose what our conscience tells us is best, even if that turns out to be believing in nothing but your fellow man!.

That's sort of what I'm like too!. I used to be Catholic, but then after thinking things through, I logically concluded that "god", "heaven", "hell" and all of that other stuff didn't exist, and I became an atheist!. I'm actually happy with my decision, as I'm now free to have my own beliefs, without some religion telling me what's right and what's wrong and what I should believe!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

I've was raised a Christian!. But no longer believe the same they do!. It's was full of judgmental, two-faced, bigoted, hypocrites!. I don't think you need to belong to one religion or another!. Find good in your heart and conscience and live your life without double standards, which is hard for any religion to do!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Personally I think all true religions are paths to one and the same God!. The path may have a few minor variations, however, ultimately they all end up with the ONE God!.

I also feel that at some stage we become the Holy Book which attunes us with our divine spirits!. At this stage we live on a higher level of existence!.

In the final analysis it is all about making the connection with God!.

An analogy would be:

You no longer need the road map when you reach your destination!.

On the other hand!.!.!.!.!.
You could be going back, to go forward!.!.!.!.

or:
You are just not into religions at this time and are taking a long or short rest!.

By your question, I get the feeling that you are just making room for another part of your journey/path, and I would not worry too much about it!.!.!.!. just let it happen!.!.!.!. and remember God does not want you to love a religion, He just want you to love Him with your heart and soul+

No matter which!.!.!.!. it is all part of your journey!.!.!.!.!.!. remember in the Holy Bible, doubting Thomas!? We all go through some form of doubt or questioning at different stages of the journey+Www@QuestionHome@Com

I am a Catholic!.!.!.!.and its just not enough!.!.!.ive been looking, searching for something!.!.!.until I found the book - Conversations with God, Book 1, 2 and 3 by Neale Donald Walsch!. Why not try it!?Www@QuestionHome@Com
