To my mind knowledge would not be sufficient!

The Journey is a quest for wisdom and the knowledge come for experience and the growth it brings about!. However, one finds that the more we learn and experience, it brings us to another level and we start the process all over again, and again!.!.!.!. there seems to be no end!.

A analogy would be:
The Journey once commenced is one Way!.!.!.!. Up, and it is like going up in an elevator, which stops on each level and you get out, and you must complete each experience and develop before the elevator can take you to the next level!.!.!. and so on!. Now the point I wish to make is, that in this elevator!.!.!.!. God and or The Universe is the limit! Now, it is up to you, where you really want to get off permanently, as this elevator, once you realize that you are on it, can take you to the ultimate God and or the Universe!.
One is given all the necessary assistance to help ones self, on a need to know basis and help is always at hand for the sincere traveler!.

My personal preference is to ask God's counsel on everything, in whom I am well pleased+

There are many people who rely on their own wisdom and knowledge and don't know what they're talking about!. Only a fool would rely only on his own knowledge!. I know you didn't say that though!.

So, you did say "upon finding his truth and knowing his reason for existence and purpose"!. I feel that when a man finds out what his purpose and reason for existence is, he will also find out that he didn't create himself and therefore the source that gave him that "true" revelation (not just his mind trying to find an explanation) would also reveal to him that he needs to yield to a higher knowledge and source of counsel and not to lean on his own understanding!. In doing so he will surely fail and have to start all over again!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Well, I don't think there is a definitive answer to this question!.
I think most of the time people think that they can self-counsel themselves when in fact they still need help from other people or even just inspiration from meditation and life in general!.
I think people are constantly learning and it is unlikely that anyone will reach the point where they truly find their truth and know their reason for existence!.!.!. unless, of course, they reach enlightenment as the Buddha is told to have done!.
That is not an easy path to take, though, and there is a reason why most people don't get there!.
I don't think it hurts to begin such a journey, however, if that is what you feel is right for you!. I think most people will always be learning and it would be rare that someone could reach such a point of self-knowledge and truth!.

I also think that if a person reaches that point, they probably wouldn't talk about it because they would essentially be removed from society with their mind on a higher plane of understanding!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Self counselling is a practise which must continue throughout a person's life, the longer a person has been performing the task the better they will be at it!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
