Because green is just a word!. It explains an idea!. That is what a word does!.

I can just as easily call a cat a "Happiness"!. But I won't, because our word for happiness does not explain a cat!.

What we describe as colors are really light waves vibrating at a certain frequency!. Convention has assigned certain color names (blue, green, etc!.) to particular ranges of frequencies!. The frequencies won't change, but if you really want to confuse yourself, you can assign different names to some or all of the frequencies!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

We don't! We don't even know for sure that what we experience is real at all!. What if everything we experienced was just an illusion and all our dreams were reality!?

Just because all humans agree on a certain reality, doesn't mean that reality is real! Fascinating concept!. What is truth, really!? Is it just what everyone says it is!?

A good example of illusions in life and how people imagine the things they can not see or understand is illustrated in this web site about "Blind Spots"!. So much of what we experience in life is truly in our blind spot and this site proves it!. Most of what we think we know to be true is just our imagination!.

My metahawk is cerulean!. Cerulean is a kind of blue!. A metahawk is a kind of animal!. What if my metahawk is an object!? What if cerulean is really pink!? What if my metahawk is really magenta!?

If I set the terms then they are what they are!. If I am lying or ignorant then someone figures that out!.

What is sight!? What is color blind!? What is sky!? If you decide that seeing the apparent color is colorblindness, you are changing the terms!. What would it mean if everyone were colorblind!? We can't see ultra-violet, is that a color!?

Why not say "Maybe dogs are cats!." or maybe making up silly things is philosophy (wait, I think that one IS true!)

I see what you are getting at!. The sky is not green, it's blue!. Why!? Only because we say it is!. We may all PERCEIVE it differently, but we all say it is blue!. It is impossible to know others perceptions!. So I think we need to clarify: is this an argument about perception or about language!? While we're at it, can we know anything (with certainty) anyways!?Www@QuestionHome@Com
