Lets say you are intelligent, witty, kind, social, a success in your own mind!.!.!.but you adamantly state how you don't need anyone, are totally self-sufficient, perfectly happy alone!.!.!.!.Nobody is ever really alone!.!.!.wouldn't the video store clerk that you chat with, the person in a passing car that you smile at and let go first, or even the people on this site that you interact with become part of your "island"!? Don't we all need each other!.!.!.even if we think we don't!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

I look at my self as more of a ship!.
I am self-sufficint for the most part!. Usually, the only company I keep is my own!.

However, I enjoy passing other ships on the same ocean!. You know, take names, memorize there flag, have a drink or two and then sail on past!. ^_^

Maybe even take on some crew!. ^_^Www@QuestionHome@Com

To an extent , you are right!. However, if a person does not get involved with the video clerk, by looking forward to seeing him or care if a woman passing by smiles, that person isn't invested in even those small relationships!. Most people who say this type of thing are referring to romantic relationships, close friendships or family!. also, I think in most cases, people who opt out of close associations aren't social or witty!. We do not actually need others!. Humans are not social animals, by biological definition!. We CAN live alone!. Many of us have a very difficult time living alone in practice, for psychological reasons, even for a short time!. And most of us are used to a certain degree of contact with others!. It is human nature to socialize extensively!. But it is not an absolute requirement!. And some people really do live almost completely alone, and are perfectly fine with it!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

"And this is the mystery of our vocation: not that we cease to be men in order to become angels or gods, but that the love of my man's heart can become God's love for God and men, and my human tears can fall from my eyes as the tears of God because they well up from the motion of His Spirit in the heart of His incarnate Son!. Hence - the gift of piety grows in solitude, nourished by the Psalms!."

"When this is learned, then love of other men becomes pure and strong!. We can go out to them without vanity and without complacency, loving them with something of the purity and gentleness and hiddenness of God's love for us!.

This is the true fruit and the true purpose of Christian solitude!."Www@QuestionHome@Com

i believe the strength of my personal quality and the happiness it brings would not be complete if that same self quality could not be shared!.

even if on that island I would invite my fellow man to share my sunshine!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Alone we can do nothing,
But together our minds fuse into something
Whose power of its separate parts!.
The kingdom cannot be found alone,
And you who are the kingdom
Cannot find yourself alone!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.

It is only an illusion !.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Yes, we do!. When I was a kid in the 60's my hippie teachers gathered a few classes into one room each day to learn some songs!.!.!.Now when I go to my new thought church & we all make a huge circle around the room we sing one that brings me back to these most peace filled times in my life!. That song is "Let there be peace on earth & let it begin with me" the people in my spiritual group change the words & put it as if it so now!.!.!.!.!.another song that has stayed with me for 40 years is "no man is an island" I did a search just now for the lyrics & it looks like Joan Baez sang it so see if you can hear it on youtube!.com but if not just read the lyrics!. It says it all!. I feel so good thinking about that song!. I wish we could have this conversation in the political section cause there is so much healing (coming together like a cut finger) that can take place there!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

It's quite normal for someone financially self-sufficient to say that!. In reality however, we just need others around us!. What would we buy without the producers of goods and services!? Where would we get the money without our jobs and who provides jobs!? It's really a chain and whether we like it or not, we are part of a chain!.

Let me share this article from Charles "Chuck" Swindoll!.

NO PLACE FOR ISLANDS (edited)

Nobody is a whole chain!. Each one is a link!. But take away one link and the chain is broken!.

Nobody is a whole team!. Each one is a player!. But take away one player and the game is forfeited!.

Nobody is a whole orchestra!. Each one is a musician!. But take away one musician and the symphony is incomplete!.

You guessed it!. We need each other!. You need someone and someone needs you!. Isolated islands we're not!. To make this thing called life work, we gotta lean and support!. And relate and respond!. And give and take!. And confess and forgive!. And reach out and embrace!. And release and rely!.

Especially in God's family!.!.!.where working together is Plan A for
survival!. And since we're so different (thanks to the way God built you),
love and acceptance are not optional luxuries!. Neither is tolerance!. Or
understanding!. Or patience!. You know, all those things you need from others when your humanity crowds out your divinity!.

In other words:

Love each other with brotherly affection and take delight in
honoring each other!.!.!. Be glad for all God is planning for you!. Be patient in trouble, and prayerful always!. When God's children are in need, you be the one to help them out!.!.!. Romans 12: 10-13

Why!? Because each one of us is worth it!. Even when we don't act like it or feel like it or deserve it!.

In a rare moment of remarkable insight, the Wall Street Journal
dedicated an entire page to this very subject!. It's like a modern day
application of the Romans 12 passage:

How Important Are You!?

More than you think!.
A rooster minus a hen
equals no baby chicks!.
Kellogg minus a farmer
equals no corn flakes
If the nail factory closes
what good is the hammer factory!?
Paderewski's genius wouldn't have
amounted to much if the
piano tuner hadn't shown up!.
A cracker maker will do better
if there's a cheese maker!.
The most skillful surgeon needs
the ambulance driver
who delivers the patient!.
Just as Rodgers needed Hammerstein
you need someone
and someone needs you!.

Since none of us is a whole, independent, self-sufficient,
supercapable, all-powerful hotshot, let's quit acting like we are!. Life's
lonely enough without our playing that silly role!.

The game's over!. Let's link up!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
