Question: I've seen it more times than I like to think about!.!.!.!?
Dying hurts!. Is this a flaw in the grand design; the cherry on top of a long, torturous life; or the dark we all must endure to make the "afterlife" so much sweeter!? If you believe your God is love!.!.!.why would he/she/it condone this!? This isn't a "choice" most people make, we just die!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I find the promise of the afterlife a man made creation!.
It would be the carrot on the stick which allows religion their control!.
Follow us and you will get a great afterlife in heaven!.

I sure wish there was an iota of evidence but no we must have "faith"!.

I have little faith in these charlatans!.

I tend more to the life energy theory, a bit zen like!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

When we get to a certain age we learn to accept death!. And ofcourse some want it before that age!. That's life I guess!. Your question is sort of scrambled though!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

Oh I love this question, but only because I wondered the same thing for so long until I came across a relatively simple explanation from the stoic philosopher Seneca!.

While in exile from Rome he was sent many letters asking his advice, one of the questions was: if there is a God, why do bad things happen to good people!? His explanation I feel extends to your question as well!. He starts by telling the questioner, Lucilius, that we learn best through experience, and that God hands us trials and tough experiences to give us the opportunity to learn and appreciate the universe!.

It is after years of imprisonment that the sky, air, and the simple embrace of our loved ones become something that you are no longer capable of taking for granted like a spoiled child; one who may go through his entire life without trial!. How unlucky that child would be to never be granted the opportunity to appreciate what he has!.

After falling from a cliff, and being stopped by a branch you know will not hold for long what might you be thinking!? How might you feel different about your life!? If there was a strawberry on that branch, what you felt was certainly your final fruit, would it not be the sweetest you would ever taste!? After a a thousand experiences with the worst of people, would you not appreciate greatly the slightest virtue in another person!?

Death is a tool, a motivator!. It grants us the ability to appreciate what we have while we have it!. Knowing our time will come up gives us the imperative to do what we can while we are able!. Like students given long versus short project dates, isn't there a relation between them and the level of procrastination!? Maybe we should be grateful for the bitter sweet influence that is death just as we should appreciate the opportunity trials give us to appreciate!.

I have cited a page where you can download Seneca's letter as a word document!. He explains it better than I could!. Hope this helps!.
