Question: At what level do we let go of the sanctity of life!?
Is there not an ethical standard that should be set!. And is it not absolute!? If we decide to allow abortions, should we not allow partial birth abortions!? And then after birth abortions!. & since this is to "not burden the mother", why not allow infanticide on handicapped children!? And then, if an adolescent should become disabled, why not terminate their lives as adults!? And when you're old & feeble, why not remove the burden of society & euthanize them!? We do it to dogs!. Spare these people & their families the pain & burden of caring for infirm family!. If we are to allow killing at one stage in life, why not at all stages!? Www@QuestionHome@Com

Hey Nikki, great question! Ya know, if we do all those gnarly things we could have a great country & a master race! Gee, I wonder why no one ever came up wth these brilliant ideas before!.!.!.say about 1939 or so!. Sieg heil! XX OO!Www@QuestionHome@Com

No one ever feels that this life is holy or sacred; if they do, they're very confused and lost!. As for killing babies and leaving them on tables to die, I think I'll pass!. That's what Obama would allow!. The baby is not holy!. The baby is a human being at all stages from the moment of conception!. Taking that child's life is murder!.

sanctity |?sa ng (k)titē|
noun ( pl!. -ties)
the state or quality of being holy, sacred, or saintly : the site of the tomb was a place of sanctity for the ancient Egyptians!.
? ultimate importance and inviolability : the sanctity of human life!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Legalized abortion could morph into euthanasia!. There really is no reason why it shouldn't be at all stages of life!. I say this out of reason and not sentiment!. I am pro life just to let all of you know!. People ignore the fact that life begins biologically when cells divide, so why not treat humans that lose their human ability (thinking) like sick pets!? Www@QuestionHome@Com

I believe abortion is murder, but should nonetheless be legal because unborn children have no Constitutional rights!.

People who are ill or in pain should have the right to commit suicide, but society shouldn't make the decision for them!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Yes, I totally ask the same question to myself which is why I am against abortion or even euthanasia!.

I am really pissed of those who are into abortion because it's being selfish!. And I am not convinced by them saying, "they will just suffer if they were to be born"!.!. Oh come on! What if their parents did the same to them!?!?

Now, mercy killing s also not my thing!. The person will die after all, so why not let him die the natural way!? I don't know!. Some say I'm a bit coward for saying so but it'll be on ones conscience!. Think of the chance that the person being euthanize might have still lived, who knows!?

I am a pro life!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

It's not about life, since individual sperm and ova are also alive, right!? And no one is giving them "life rights"!. The question is about the recognition of an individual person!. I happen to think that happens at birth!. Or, if a mom-to-be gives her 4 m!.o!. fetus a name and starts to recognize it's kick and feel sympathy and love for it, and starts planning a nursery, then that is also personalization: A person has been recognized!.

But if a woman finds out she is pregnant by accident, and she feels nothing but disgust and regret, for whatever reason, and plots how to get rid of "it", you may think that is sad, but by definition, she has not granted the fetus person-hood!. That's why the termination of that fetus, decided by that woman should be permitted by law, no matter how abhorrent we think it is!. The fetus has been denied personhood by the only person qualified to give or deny full life!.!.!.the mother!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I am a mother of 3 and suffered 3 miscarriages!. I also gave birth to a daughter that died in the birth canal because my water broke at 22 weeks!. If she had survived she would have been on a breathing machine (aka the iron lung) for her entire life, because without my amniotic fluid her lungs could not develop!. Well she did not make it and I went on to give birth to 2 more wonderful sons!.

I am a believer in karma!. My baby girl not surviving was her karma and my karma!. I still mourn her!. I never had the pleasure to have another baby girl!. I have 3 wonderful sons!. Later I developed cancer which caused me to have a full hysterectomy!. I feel blessed that I was able to have my sons before the cancer!.
As for the abortion issue it is not my business of another person’s situation!. I cringe and cry every time a young girl gives birth, kills her baby and puts it in the dumpster!. Most of those girls come from strong anti abortion homes and are afraid to tell their parents their situation!. I also hate to hear stories of these children being tortured and beaten to death because the mother could not handle the stress of parenting!.
Before abortion was legal women were trying to self abort or going to quacks to have illegal abortions!. Many women were found in dumpsters that had botched abortions and bled to death!. I think there should be better education for young girls that would teach them different options such as adoption!. I think schools should have parenting classes where kids have to actually have to deal with real toddlers for a few weeks!. This will make any kid with any goals choose not to have sex at a young age!. It would let them know that it is not fun to be a parent at a young age!.

Regarding your questions of killing or euthanizing of older people/handicapped people!. !. My mother suffered with cancer for 3 years and was often in unbearable pain!. She was on strong morphine in the end which I feel that the morphine killed her!. She had control of the morphine, it was her decision!. I read that it is usually the drugs that kill the cancer patients not the cancer!.

I have another friend that when her son was 6 months old he was diagnosed with CP!. She said he did nothing but cry his first 6 months!. She and her husband took classes to learn how best to take care of their son!. When the government stopped funding schools with disabilities they started their own school for their son and others like him!. Their son is now in his 30's!. He is in a wheelchair and cannot communicate!. He takes constant care!. I admire my friends that have always cared for him with all their heart and love!.

I have another friend whom at the young age of 70 her mother had dementia (aka Alzheimer’s disease)!. She moved her mother 400 miles to be near her!. Her mother was an intelligent woman and had just retired a few years before her illness was diagnosed!. My friend works so she has gone through multiple dilemmas regarding the care of her mom!. She wants to keep her mom active with crafts and exercise while she is at work!. My friend takes vacations with her mom often!. She knows that it is just a short time before her mom will no longer recognize her!. She is putting her own life on hold to take care of her mother!. She wants her mom to have the smoothest old age with the least amount of complications!. Her mom is very sweet but is really like taking care of a child!. I admire this friend also for all the love she has for her mother!.

Basically what I am trying to say is that I do not feel I have the right to govern another person’s body!. Abortion has been legal for over 50 years and I have never seen any law come into congress regarding murdering handicapped people or old people!. If there have ever been any such laws can you please send me the link!.

You are so ready for Darwin!.

Life has no sanctity but that we give it!.
One thing the Darwinists & Believers agree on is that humans have been killing each other since there were humans!.

Ethical standards are the glue that allows us to gain the advantage of group action!. We 'agree' not to kill each other without a good reason!.

So is being unwanted, unneeded or badly dysfunctional a good reason!?

That IS the question!. Life has no intrinsic sanctity!. The ethical standard is whatever we make it!. It is whatever the group decides!.

There have been societies that considered it perfectly ethical to do everything you have described!. And the 'problem' is not a simple one!.

Because who truly respects the 'sanctity' of life!?

Is it the one who respects the life of the murder!? Or the one that requires the murder's death out of respect for the life of the victims!?

If we allow the euthanizing of Down's syndrome children, is this because we disrespect the child's life or because we respect the mother's life too much to force her to 'waste' time raising a clearly non viable offspring!?

You ask a very good question, but I fear you ask it rhetorically!.

One day you may have to choose between caring for an infirmed parent with a hopeless prognosis, & sending a child to college!.

I believe ethics is rarely, if ever the simple matter of holding all life sacred & more often than not a hard choice of prioritizing which life is important to our future!.

May your logic find your luck!.
