Question: Why do people believe "there is no truth"!?
doesn't the statement "there is no truth" have to be true in order for there not to be any truth!? The whole belief is self contradicting and i don't understand how people can think that way!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

You're onto something I've tried to point out to others!. If all 'truth' is relative, then no 'truth' is imperative; doesn't that undermine the meaning of 'truth' to begin with!? Fact is, while history is taught in terms of eras and periods, like "The Enlightenment", "The Renaissance", etc!., each one very proud of its logical and intellectual prowess (yet questioned by following generations), very few venture to view our own period in time in the same light!. Right now, we're in a very Post-Modern Age, a follow-up to Modernism!. I'll let you look them up in more detail if you wish, but (in a nutshell) Modernism questioned a wide range of "traditional" values and sought to find it's own sense of truth!. Post-Modernism, on the other hand, casts the same doubt on older values but with a different attitude: "who cares!?"!. Truth is seen as both private and a burden!. Both, by the way, have roots in The Enlightenment!. I would like to leave you with one thought, however; cynicism IS indeed lazy thinking!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

i got to agree with stella B!.!.!.

its like asking for the meaning of life!.!.!. every answer you will get is perspective because your question is too general and everyone see's it differently!.!.!.

your answer depends on what you apply that sentence to specifically!.

and more likely than not, it refers to religion!.!.!. so if thats the case !.!.!. id like to add, humans are visual creatures (most of us) and we tend to believe what we see, rather than see what we believe!. in that perspective that line is simply for those who give up and choose to believe in that line!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

It all comes down to how you define truth!. Truth is a concept with many different layers and each layer can be perceived from many different aspects e!.g!. If 10 people witness an event each will describe it differently according to their own perception!. But if you are speaking of 'The Truth" then it is not so much a matter of there being none but our inability to grasp it and recognise it for what it is!. Therefore it is much simpler to say there is no truth!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I would like to see objective evidence to support your statement that people believe "there is no truth!." It occurs to me that your assumption is wrong!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
