I don't believe any drug should be illegal!. A!.) Prohibition doesn't work!. Never has, never will!. B!.) It is absolutely a persons individual choice of what they want to do to their bodies, regardless of government laws!.

If someone "wants to ruin their life shooting heroin" then that is just fine with me!. And if they break into my house for money to support their habit I will kill them!. Not really, but you get the idea!. We need more rehabilitation clinics, since drug abuse is an illness and not a crime!.

The reason, I believe, that drugs are illegal is that it creates fear of ones neighbors/suspicion, allows for more money to be allocated to the police, is a politically advantagous position since not everyone "does drugs" (i!.e!. drugs that are illegal!. everyone does drugs!. biochemical are drugs!. you tell me where to draw the line!.), and it creates a non-violent prison work force whose labor can be exploited!.

That's my drug position anyways!. I don't do drugs, and don't advocate their use!. But I am also not going to tell anyone what they can do with their body!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

Not that I'm entirely in favor of some of the laws against drugs, but there is one consideration that might be addressed here: With legal pharmaceuticals, there is extensive regulation concerning quality (including control of sources), safe handling, safe production, and protecting those without the capacity to protect themselves (for instance, children)!.

The legal instances of recreational drugs (alcohol and tobacco) are heavily taxed as a means of ensuring the costs of publicizing and enforcing these regulations are distributed among the customer base!. Alcohol use is also regulated because of safety risks (for example, DUI laws and penalties)!. Legalizing additional drugs, such as marijuana, would require additional systems of regulation, supported by substantial taxation!.

For marijuana in particular, this should be reasonably achievable!. For many drugs (methamphetamine comes to mind), it's arguable that setting up whole new government bureaucracies is more costly and less effective than simple prohibition!.

Here, small-government arguments come up against one of the facts of life best confronted by the military: for every operation, there is a cost of doing it, and there is also a cost of NOT doing it!.

Drugs should be Illegal because they not only change personalities that affect more than just the user, they also lead to crime, violence, serious illness and inevitably Death!.
There is no such thing as a safe or recreational drug!.
In the long term they all harm the users, who often end up living on the Streets, that leads to crime in order to feed their own Habit and for the unfortunate who have no support Death!.

I think that when you illegalize a perfectly benign drug like marijuana, it causes a slippery slope thing to happen!. I can imagine someone smoking some pot and reasoning to themself, "Hey, this isn't as bad as they say it is," and then going out and trying harder stuff, since it's all illegal and the government is always trying to equate pot with crack anyway!. Fools!.

also, look into what happened when they decriminalized heroin in Scotland and the way they have zoned off parts of Amsterdam for hard drug usage!. Fascinating, and effectiveWww@QuestionHome@Com

I do not think drugs should be illegal unless they infringe on the rights of others!.!.For instance when people make Crystal Meth according to the EPA the place is hazardous and not safe for habitation!.!.I would not want to unknowingly buy or rent a house where meth was made!.!.or rent a hotel room where it was made!.!.also, if you have kids you should not be on anything (alcohol included ) that impedes on your ability to take care of them!.!.Too many times it is in the news where the parents were either passed out or extremely high and their children get hurt !.!.Other than that as long as you are not hurting anyone else I say smoke it if you got it!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

The shame is that making it illegal doesn't stop it from being sold, rather it just makes it a great trade for criminals and lowlives!.

However, to answer your Q, SPECT scans clearly show that regular use of marijuana wears down the frontal lobe, which deals with decision making and other important things we use our brain for!.

If you were to see a SPECT scan of someone who uses harde drugs regularly for years you'll see that their brain looks like Swiss Cheese!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

If it is legal, it will be easier for kids to get a hold of, and destroy their brains due to the fact they are still developing!. If they were sold like cigarettes, all people would need is an adult to buy them, which there are plenty in my high school that would do that without a problem!. Even though it is still easy to get a hold of, it could be easier!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
