Question: Does falling in love make you more realistic or more philosophical !?
Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:
It all depends how old you are and how "beaten up of life" you are!. In my early 20's, I don't think I had even a "clue" what love really meant!. How much "commitment" is involved ! I suppose back then, I was extremely philosophical!. Today at almost 40 and with two wonderful kids, trust me, I have become very "realistic" although, I do allow myself to "dream" from time to time!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

To add a bit to Grandma Jane's answer!. I grew up along time ago, the time of "make love not war!." Loving as many as possible was appropriate back then!. Falling in love was not sought, but when it happened it wrought a great deal of tension because it interfered with the the first goal!. That said, it was upon a devastating break up that I finally came to my senses!. I realized that love, the real thing, was the source of all meaning!. That realization illuminated the dullness of all philosophy!. It was a long time after that before I finally got married (I did not revert back to my old behavior, however)--and I might add that I have never looked back!. I guess you could say that my answer to your question is yes, ultimate meaning and love are two sides of the same coin, but for most of us it's only after experiencing the struggles of a painful relationship that brings that message home!. Neither!. But losing love, or even experiencing the fading of it over time, makes one both more realistic and more philosophical at once!. Sorry, but that's just the way it works!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
