Question: Is it still considered lying if!.!.!.!?

Is it still considered lying if you honestly believe it's the truth!?

Like if I truly thought that the sky was green, and I told someone it was [yet we all know it's not], would it still be considered a lie!?

Bad example, I know!. But it happens to all of us!. We say one thing to somebody that we believe is true but then find out later that it's not so it ends up looking like we lied!

A lie is defined as "deliberately" misleading or falsifying a known fact!. So if one truly believes what they are saying, then no, that person has not lied!. To qualify as a lie, a person must know that something they have stated as true is indeed a misrepresentation of the truth!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

If you though what you were saying was the truth then you haven't done anything wrong!. However you still lied - the facts of what you said where false!. These unintentional lies can get you into trouble and hurt the person you lied to as much as any other unfortunately!. Www@QuestionHome@Com
