Actually, it isn't from the movie!.
Douglas Adams is the the author of 5 books lovingly referred to as The Hitchhikers Trilogy!.
In asking the Ultimate Computer, named Deep Thought, The Ultimate Question, the answer to life, the universe and everything, it's reply was 42!.
When people made a fuss, Deep Thought explained that they didn't ask the right question, so it designed another computer to discover the Ultimate Question!. It was called the Earth, and it would run on a 10 million year program, but minutes before the program was to be completed, the earth was destroyed!.
Now we have the Ultimate Answer, but will never know the Ultimate Question!.

It's not!. i bet that people are trying to be funny and answer the 'what is the meaning of life' question with a math answer that doesnt apply at all!. btw, i believe that the meaning of life is actually to serve God with your whole heart, glorify Him, fufill His purpose, and tell others about Him!. Yep from the movie!. The answer to everything given by the super computer specifically built to answer the question lol!. Wish I had a clue as to answers to the big questions!. Why are we here!? What is my purpose!? I go without knowing the answer be kind, love as best I can and do the best I can!. Even doing the best I know how is often beyond me!.
