Question: Is the unexamined life a happy life!?
Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:
I would say the unexamined life is not a happy life but only in regards to those people that have character and a nature that they must lead an examined life!. A dog can not lead an examined life therefore his happiness or joy is not depend it on leading an examined life!. A person with a high IQ who leads an unexamined life is not agreement with their nature!. I recall some years ago reading a survey about people in jail saying they had found that the IQ of the prisoners seems to either below average of above average the non-prison population!. Now this survey maybe not be true but I would bet any prisoners, in any jail, with a above average IQ have damaged themselves by not leading an examined life!. The unexamined life is only a happy life to those who have a nature that does not demand that they lead an examined life!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I can't claim to have the answer!. I have always been one to examine!.!.!.and over examine my life!. I suspect the question ought to be more along the lines of 'is the unexamined life a worthwhile life!?' Your question made me think of a song from one of my favorite musicals, Wicked!. I wanted to find a youtube link of it for you but I couldn't find a good one!. The song is called 'Dancing Through Life' and the song starts of with this:

"The trouble with schools is they always try to teach the wrong lessons!. Believe me, I've been kicked out of enough of them to know!. They want you to become less callow, less shallow but I say why invite stress in!? Stop studying strife and learn to live the unexamined life!."

It's a great and funny song!. You should look it up!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

It depends on your POV!. Some would say yes!. As the saying goes ignorance is bliss!. Other such as my self would tend to disagree!. If your a go with teh flow person who doesn't worry much then yes the unexamined life is a happy life!. It usually ends up being the people who don't examine their lives tend not to wonder so they never have to answer the question, while the others who do wonder would say no!. Its like not missing having internet because you never new joys of having oneWww@QuestionHome@Com

if it makes you happy than it is, if not (and the reason for your unhappiness is THE unexamined life), than you examine it, and there you go-you are happy!.!.!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
