For philosophers, nowadays, the word "soul" is reserved for reference to a "non-physical" entity that is identical with or is the foundation of your sense of self!. But the self could still be a physical phenomenon (a product of your nervous system)!. That's the distinction: some people believe that the self exists who do not believe that the soul exists!.

also, for psychoanalysts, the "soul" might be the same as the "psyche," which includes the unconscious, whereas the "self" might b the same as the "ego," which is a conscious phenomenon!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

1 soul is the part of the self,self means our complete biological body!.
we usually said my eyes,my nose,my beautiful legs!.
2 when soul come out of body,there is no self,it is soul that run the self!.
3 but there is not any scientific evidence,that anything like soul lives inside our body!.
great indian philosopher shankracharya had givena very beautiful answer to this quesion he had said" how it can be possible that metaphysical things(which are beyond physical world,god or soul can have logical explanation) because they are beyond our mental and physical perception!.
4 according to buddhism there is no self!.
5 according to indian atheist school of philosophy carvaka ,this body is an biological body and after death everything finish,this body is made of 4 elements,air,fire,water,earth and will mix into it after death!.there is nothing like soul inside our body!.
the important quesion arise,the population of world is increasing,earlier it was 300 million at the time of jesus christ now it is in billions from where new souls come,who made these souls!.
6 according to vedanta philosophy soul lives inside our mind,in between two eyes as we leave old clothes and get new,soul after death leave the body and get a new body!.

Somewhere I read that the definition of "psyche" in the language it came from which is Greek, is that it is the mind, soul, or self!. So, in that case the answer to your question is yes!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

The self is short lived and livid with ego!. Self will die!.
