And!.!.we know by now(see below)that NO answer is ever complete(and i am all in favor of keeping and trying-to-keep,general and critical knowledge based Philosophy,free of Religion,by the way)!. But,some of you have unfortunately missed the fact that for some,even possibly billions(!),like is definately not"short"!.
i refer to you the masses who live a poor life compared to the masses like us-it was on the news last night that over a billion people have no or little access to WATER;and thus,daily "life" for them is probably anything-but-short;i mean its likely to be a gruelling struggle-an incessant one which they find hard and continous,possibly to the point of desperation(and !.
continous,daily,desperation)!.

There are also those (youngish!?)convicted prisoners who have just started their "life"sentences(for bad or good)-life for these too could not and should not be written/described as "short";especially but not exclusively if such prisoners were completely innocent of the committed crime(s)!.

Yes, but only when compared to the lives of other things, like the sun!. Compared to the several day long life of a fruit fly, ours seems quite long!. It all depends on your point of view!. The problem we humans have is that we are aware of our own mortality, we KNOW we are going to die, what we don't know is WHEN!. Animals do not have a sense of time passing as we know it, counting hours and days, but some DO have a sense of time passing, like a dog which welcomes you home!. I honestly think a dog senses long and short periods, sensing when you have been gone for only a few hours and knows that a few days is longer, but they do not count the days as we do!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

so its relative and you can never say life its short or long,
