1!. Which subject is more interesting!? 2!. Which subject is more fun!? 3!. Which subject will make you a better person once graduated!? BTW, I am NOT going to get a job in either one of these fields of study because I am going to dental school after undergrad!. But I want to major in Anthropology or in Philosophy, and I want to make sure that I make the right choice of my major!.Www@QuestionHome@Com Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: I'm a pre-med, philosophy major!.!.!.I have also taken an anthropology class!. If you like culture and learning about different cultures, origins, peoples of different cultures, their beliefs, traditions etc!. honestly I love my decision in majoring in philosophy, it's always provided something that science doesn't!. With the rigorous science classes, which you probably know about (since your pre-dental), it lets my mind flex and be a bit more fluid and free!. I mean anthro!. could too but!.!.!.I only liked it because I had an awesome prof!. You could major in both philosophy and anthropology!.!.!.neither will necessarily make you a better person, you have to make yourself a better person which you can do in almost in any major!. There are many ways to make yourself a better person!. however, the most important thing is that you do what you really like!.!.!.I know it's kinda cliche and all but!.!.!.honestly I don't get why choosing a major is so stressful for some people all you have to do is do what you like!.!.!.do what you really like because YOU are the one that has to do all the workWww@QuestionHome@Com The answers to all of those questions depends on you!. I LOVE philosophy, but my best friend is anthropology!. We both attack the same questions from our own viewpoints!. Anthropology works best for him because he's better suited for it!. I do better philosophically!. The one that you do the best in will be the most rewarding and give you the needed motivation to continue your studies!. You will naturally do best in the one you are most interested in and will have the most fun!. But that depends on your own individual personality and talents!. You can take electives or a minor in the one you don't major in!. Doing what you will do the best in will open more opportunities and be more intrinsically rewarding!. Although anthropology touches on some interesting aspects of past humans--society wise, philosophy wise--it's more scientific!. Philosophy on the other hand makes you think!. You think you know now what is good and what is bad!? If your philosophy teacher is any good, once you take the course you'll understand that good and bad is hard to distinguish!. Which subject is more interesting!? i found both very interesting, i think other people were more likely to find Philosophy boring and hard, but i liked it very much although i thought anthropology was more attention grabbing to study 2!. Which subject is more fun!? i would say anthro, i love facts and learning about different cultures, i loved that class and would have taken it just for fun 3!. Which subject will make you a better person once graduated!? thats a tough question!. anthropology gives u a clearer view of urself in relation to other people in the world, helping u realize where u were biased, and just giving u a whole new world view, which i think once i got, i found so necessary, and wished it was tuaght mandatory in high schools!. philosophy will help u put a whole new perspective on urself, and how u see urself and ur goals/personal life and ur character, it will teach u to think!. if i were u, i wud take at least introductory levels of each course, an try to get good professors, or go somewhere with highly spoken of classes, and make the choice for urself!! ?Www@QuestionHome@Com It is simple really! Read about both subjects get a gist of what is involved, what approaches are taken!. What is involved!. Talk to people who know about these subjects, and then decide on what subject interests you more!. Both subjects take a very different approach and are hardly related at some level!. Philosophy we seek answers for the questions we have!. We learn how approaches differ as to how an answer is sought!. How no answer is a wrong answer!. Anthropology, ultimate goal is to study all aspects of mankind!. We use different approaches and subjects to get an insight into a particular aspect!. So take for example what impact did Aztecs have on our modern society!. So we will look into many different variables to reach a conclusion and reach an insight, social science, linguistics, archeology, theology etc!. Www@QuestionHome@Com Anthropology; you will learn to understand man and his behavior; in philosophy you will learn how he thinks and why, but you must first understand the man!. Anthropology is like !.!.!.philosophy about the man rather than his thoughts about the world and surroundings!. You can do both in time, but I would start with anthropology, I studied it for a year in journalism and loved every minute of it; it made me see the world differently and think deeper!.Www@QuestionHome@Com Pretty much all undergraduate classes should be prefaced with, "History of"!. In both Anthropology and Philosophy you will learn about all that was done before you!. You will be responsible for remembering peoples names and their particular theories!. If you are lucky you will do some real work in graduate school!. Like most academics it all about giving credit to the correct person because that is what gets these guy tenure!. Write a paper/book blah blah blah!. Keep to the sciences where things are based on data!. FYI I majored in Philosophy and economics!.Www@QuestionHome@Com ANTHROPOLOGY of course!. As someone who switched from Math and Physics to Anthropology for my Masters, I have NEVER regretted it!. Believe me, it is the most humanising of subjects - definitely broadens your perspectives, making you a citizen of the world!. And it's fun and interesting!. Go for it!. (By the way, I have nothing against Philosophy, but I think it makes people rather introverted and ultra-serious!)Www@QuestionHome@Com Don't forget to factor in the instructor!.
