Question: Who would you trust more!?!.!.!.!?
!.!.!.a Christian priest or a Buddhist monk!? why!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:
Buddhist monk, definitely!.

Being a buddhist monk is no joke!.!.!. It doesn't happen without a lot of dedication!. Being a christian priest sometimes is!. I know a lot of corrupt priests- it's all to common to hear about a priest raping someone or shooting someone (And I personally know someone whose girlfriend was raped by a catholic priest!.) Half the churches around here are more like businesses than anything else- some of the churches around here are the size of wall-mart supercenters, with big, expensive, lit up signs!. Forget the cost of construction, you could feed hundreds off the money they spend to power that sign every month alone! What kind of church is that!?

I'm neither a christian nor a Buddhist, but I'm afraid Buddhists have to get my vote!. Of the priests and clergymen and the like I've met associated with the christian faith, maybe one in three is trustworthy and actually dedicated to his faith!. The rest are notorious for cheating, drinking problems, and all that jazz around here!. And their kids!? I haven't met a kid of a preacher, priest, etc!. yet who wasn't severely depressed and/or cutting themselves!.

also, over the years, Buddhists have become much less known for randomly condemning people they don't like!. I've made some lifestyle choices that a lot of Christians would like to watch me burn for!. Haven't heard of a Buddhist witch-hunt, or a Buddhist preaching that people who have made a different religious choice or have a different sexual preference than them will burn in a fiery inferno for all eternity!. We haven't talked about Buddhist holy wars too often in history class!. Face it, Christians do NOT have a good reputation, and never will!.

Not going to say Buddhism is perfect- there's not going to be a single religion that's perfect!. I'm sure there are corrupt Buddhist monks somewhere!. also not going to say there aren't good, trustworthy christian priests!. Just haven't really had any bad experiences with Buddhism in my limited interactions with it, and have only even heard of one recent bad experience with a Buddhist (And he wasn't really dedicated to the faith, he had recently converted and was somehow convinced that the path to enlightenment lead through cheating on his wife!.)

But yeah, this question will receive some bias!. Not just because of people picking the religion they're a part of, but because very few people have had interactions with Buddhists!. Outside of the limited number of people who have had such interactions, you're really just asking 'Do you trust christian priests!?' I have to admit, though, I very much admire the christians who admit they trust a Buddhist monk more!. It's very!.!.!. refreshing to see that even some christians will acknowledge that their holy men can be corrupt, and it's nice to see some people still realize that christianity is about faith and kindness, not just about being a part of the organization and always agreeing with them!.

And in response to Virtus, I never denied I'm more likely to hear about christian priest's wrongdoing!. I even mentioned I've had pretty limited interactions with buddhism, and that others are likely the exact same!. I'm just choosing the certain evil I know over the possible evil I don't!. And considering me and many other people are pretty much condemned by the local christian churches, few of us deserve it, and I've never had any problem with the limited number of Buddhists I know (had them with almost EVERY christian I know) I'm going to lean towards the Buddhists!. I don't watch the news, so any problems with christians I've heard about is local!. Had a Buddhist teacher once, and a Buddhist neighbor, got along with both very well!. I wouldn't exactly like to have to trust a complete stranger at all, but as I recall, the question was worded 'who would you trust *more*!?'Www@QuestionHome@Com

Buddhist monk!.
Just based off of their reputation, Buddhists are peaceful and accepting!.
Christians are anything but!. The Christian priests I know (not ALL - the one's /I/ know and/or have heard of) spend their time converting and bashing all other religions, shamelessly promoting their own, putting the Bible out of context to attract followers and say that Christianity is basically the best things since sliced bread!. When, you know, it's very clearly /not/!.
Of course, not all Christian priests are like that!. Buddhist monks, in my experience, are much, MUCH less militant and do their job only to the extent that it won't hurt anyone else!. Therefore, I would trust them!.
In all fairness, though, there are probably multiple cases in which those roles can be reversed!. Religion isn't indicative of one's personality!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

A Buddhist Monk because they Meditate and are more in touch with their Spiritual side they don't preach about Religion they guide people towards getting in touch with their higher self and to connect Mind, Body and Soul as ONE

These are some of the benefits of meditation:

1!.Improved concentration - A clear mind makes you more productive, especially in creative disciplines like writing!.

2!.Less bothered by little things - Do you sometimes allow yourself to get upset by little things!? It is the nature of the mind to magnify small things into serious problems!. Meditation helps us detach!. We learn to live in the here and now, rather than worrying about the past or future!. We do not worry about meaningless things, but see the bigger picture!.

3!.Better Health - There have been numerous studies pointing to the health benefits of meditation!. The reason is that meditation reduces stress levels and alleviates anxiety!. If we can reduce stress, many health benefits follow!.

4!.Knowledge of Self - Meditation enables us to have a deeper understanding of our inner self!. Through meditation we can gain a better understanding of our life’s purpose!.

That is like asking if you trust your neighbor!. Perhaps if you elaborated more, people would be able to give a better answer!. So far, they have been fairly poor!.
The reason you hear more about Priests being caught for something is that Christianity is the most supported religion in the world!. Therefore, people pay more attention to it!. Do you think every other religion is completely innocent!? I'm sure there has been plenty of dirty dealing in other religions as well!. I believe the Trust issue transcends religion to a certain extent and goes into morals!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I would probably trust a Christian priest more only because I would feel that he would better understand my point of view and frame of reference and culture as I was raised a Christian!. I would have no opinion whether either would be more ethical than the other if that is what you are asking, I would have to know the individual person better to answer that!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

It depends on the individual person, given their vocation does give some insight into their personality!.

also, the question "Do preachers/pastors count as priests!?" pops up!.

I agree with "vinod s" that your question is in bad taste!. It shows possible preference and bias!. I also agree that you should have broadened your question to include all religions!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I have to agree with # 3, and # 4 and for the same reasons!. I wonder why you even ask!?

I think it's fairly obvious that we are 'born" into some specific, faith based system, we hardly get to choose, until we experience a sense of what we thing fits "us" and our "rules" of comparison, are obviously taught/learned!. I happen to know, and like both sides, and can't think to be their judge!.

I was born of Presbyterian parents, raised by a Lutheran grandfather and native American pagan grandmother, moved on to find friends in the Catholic faith, and want to find my own way, not guided by some "club" with dictates, and damnation preaching!.

A!.F!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

the comparison is in bad taste!.
why not just ask the question which religion do you believe in!.
and then religion is a very personal choice so each person with his answer has his own good and valid reason!.

the good thing about religions is that it unites people and teaches them to do the right thing!.

please do not use religion to separate people

In the confessional, I would trust a Catholic priest!. Even if he causally revealed what was said, he could be defrocked!. The confessional is sacrosanct in both theology and law!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Buddhist monk!. Christianity hardly has anything left in it that would indicate someone of a kind and loving nature!.

Christian priests also jerk off little boys!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Depends on who is a better person!. You can't choose friends according to their occupation/religion!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Buddhist monk, because they're more pure in my opinion!.!.!.!.

May you please answer mine (if you want!.!.!.)
