Question: "Genius and madness are two sides of the same coin"!?
Its a comment/saying I've heard in the X-box 360 game Mass Effect, and while I'm not one to coin things from video games, I must say this saying makes me wonder sometimes!.

Are *some* people/individuals with theories, beliefs, and the like who are outcasted by people as being "crazy", "diabolical", "anti-Christ", or just plain delusional ever seem to possibly have a point!? What do you make of the saying!? Www@QuestionHome@Com

In a certain way, I think that this is true!. People who are genius's and those who are mad both think inn a very different way to most people!. They both think of new, sometimes crazy ideas that are not generally accepted or have never been though of before!. It is almost like they think in circles while the rest of us think in lines!. What seperates the mad from the genius is how much truth is held in these ideas!. A genius's ideas will be a great insight, they will be well though out and either be true or at least could be true!. A mad person's ideas are just that, mad with no truth to them, just ideas without the thought process to back them up!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

i think it is difficult sometimes for people to be able to discern the difference of madness and genius!. but there is clearly a difference!.

for example the implications of Einstein's theory of relativity seem impossible and crazy!. but they are not!. if he came up to you in the street before science deemed his theory supported by the scientific community, no matter how much he explained it, the large majority of people would think he is crazy!.

which isn't really a good thing for things like democracy!.

I have a vested interest in thinking this is so, as I am mad as a box of frogs!.

I think madness and genius come in many forms and I did see some research that showed that there wasn't a correlation but cant re-find it!.

Certainly there have been a lot of geniuses who were on the edge and it certainly helps promote original thinking and creativity!.

There are people who went mad because they were ridiculed for their inventions as others were not far sighted enough to accept them!.

However the WHO stats!. show that 1 in 3 of us at any one time - have a mental health problem so maybe madness is more normal which would skew the understanding - Maybe we are all geniuses at something and all will experience madness!.

Forgive me but I feel I must help put things into perspective a bit!.
I think this quote sums it up nicely!.
"But the fact that some geniuses were laughed at does not imply that all who are laughed at are geniuses!. They laughed at Columbus, they laughed at Fulton, they laughed at the Wright brothers!. But they also laughed at Bozo the Clown!."
Carl Sagan (1934 - 1996)Www@QuestionHome@Com

People who try to put new ideas on people especially those that are anti-religious(actually feasible that is) are hated(considered mad) mainly because people don't like change!.!.they need to believe in some religion!.!.!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Genius is extraordinary and that can of course look like abnormal in the absence of careful appraisal!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
