Both!. It depends on the context!. Look at all the kids committing crimes against each other and posting on the internet!.
Then look at all the money spent by charities on the poor!.
You can go back and forth like that for days!.
But my estimation is we are on the way out of the Enlightenment and headed back toward the darkness of Plato's Cave!.
