Dictionary!.com says: "The ability to transcend traditional ideas, rules, patterns, relationships, or the like, and to create meaningful new ideas, forms, methods, interpretations, etc!.; originality, progressiveness, or imagination!."

I have always been impressed with a little trick that people do in Alcoholics Anonymous that I'd like to share with you!. Speakers use a bunch of cliche phrases like "Keep it Simple" and "First Things First" and they weave them seamlessly into their personal story!. What happens is that a person's individuality becomes subsumed to the general message!. They inhabit a cliche and make it alive!. This is not transcending tradition but transcending individuality!. It points to the fact that (I believe,) creativity does not have to be anti-social or against tradition in order to be creative!. These people in no way fit the definition above, but they are being tremendously creative!. Creativity is such an indefinable quality; I want to say that it is human energy invested in an act, but when you look at a performer like Perry Como or Frank Sinatra they art is often in the appearance of effortlessness!.

So ultimately who knows what creativity is!. It is always recreating itself!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
