I always found this one kinda interesting!.

In a strict sense, I feel compelled to say no!. Insofar as I reject supernaturalism, I can't take seriously the idea that there is one perfect special someone that was set aside just for me, and vice versa!.

However, there are some 6 billion humans wandering around!. Considering the range of feelings I have for the few hundred or thousand people I've met long enough to have a chance of making a real connection, 6 billion is a big number!. All things being equal, there are probably several if not dozens or hundreds of people who I might connect with on a level that exceeds my wildest expectations!.

The realities of things like cultural, geographical, and language barriers; gender; etc may prevent me from meeting any of them, but I have occasionally found it comforting that statistically speaking, they're out there!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

'Soul mate' I think has been romanticised a great deal, especially by films, media etc!. But what I think it to mean is a great connection between people, who seem to understand each other without there being a concious effort to and who are strikingly similar in personality but with crucial differences that make them compatible!.

Soul mate doesn't neccessarily equate to romance - I believe that friends are just as likely to be soul mates as partners!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

if that were the case then wouldnt that mean that altogether we are not singular souls but only half souls, i personally do not believe in soulmates, because there are people that can mesh well together but love friendship and any form of bonding is mere chemical reaction in the brain, and to think that my soul is eternally linked to another soul that is just an overly romanticised idea that lovers choose to enjoy the thought of or dread that they will not attain it but what if you do not believe in love beyond that of family, what if you do not allow for others to see into your soul what if you are sociopathic and for that matter a pathological liar how can anyone get close enough to find out that they are your "soul mate"Www@QuestionHome@Com

No, not EVERYONE, but many people do!.

Some of us are not mature enough when we meet our soul mate and we either push them away or we walk away from them and suffer after we realize years later what we've done to ourselves!

Other people meet their soul mate and realize that the person is really special, and they stay that way!. By that I mean not all soul-mates are romantic, I know of combat veterans who are soul mates because of their shared traumatic experiences! Other soul mates become husbands and wives! And sometimes, an occupation makes an economic "soul mate" such as happened to me with railroading!. Some soul mates are merely pen-pals and "best friends" regardless of their sex, with nothing romantic involved at all!

So there are different kinds of soul mates!.

But some people are just either not raised to be a genuine friend to anyone, or simply have no interest in being a symbiotic soul mate!. Those people are sad realities!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I don't think so!. In fact, I don't think it's a healthy concept!.

You can have a really good relationship that ends,,,, but that does not mean you will never have another relationship!.

There's no perfect match, because there is no perfect anything!. This doesn't mean you won't be happy, but you're expecting too much if you think you'll be happy all the time, never argue, or never be misunderstood!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
