What you call "divine" love, I call unconditional love and I beg to differ, but we are capable of that love in the here and now!. We are not separate from God in that respect!. Examples: 1) A person who loves another and lets them go to let them be happy, knowing all they want is to have that person around, that is unconditional love!. 2) As someone mentioned, the love of a mother for a child is probably the greatest, most pure love there is!. I don't think you can get more unconditional than that!. The other point I disagree on you is that I do not believe there is such a thing as selfless love!. Nothing you can do for another is selfless because it is in giving kindness, love and compassion that you probably help yourself more than the other person!. Giving to another is the same thing as giving to yourself!. Both always feel good!. So, I think the question you meant is "why are there not more people out there practicing unconditional love!?" And the answer to that is, I'm sure that is probably on their to-do list but getting rid of all the emotions, past traumas and the like that interfere with the purity of that love (guilt, shame, anger, etc!.) is not an easy task to do and for many it takes a lifetime and maybe beyond to learn!.
