Well, "naive" is a term that was taken from history of art so it hasn't been in use in English for so long!. It used to denote a state of simplicity, akin to the rural, primitive and childlike characteristics or "feelings" rendered in a work of art!.
Using the term to refer to people was at the beginning a form of synonym to "innocent" but could now be used to refer to someone permanently "unrefined" or "simple" in a voluntary way, whereas "innocence" would be a state from where we all come from!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I would say they are similar, but not the same!. Innocence to me implies a lack of worldly experience, being untainted by what is out there!. Naivete is more like not understanding the world around you, and believing that everyone and everything is as decent as you consider yourself to be!.
