Dear Eve,

I agree with you 100%! This kind of thing is the reason why war should be avoided unless absolutely, absolutely necessary!. I believe that WW II had to be fought!. But Iraq!? No!. Iraq is about political agendas!.

We know that the Canadian soldiers were doing the best they knew how, according to their training!. So I don't blame them!.

But I don't blame the driver of the car, either!. How was he supposed to know, or feel safe, to just "pull over!?" Those are American-like police rules of the road!. The Iraqis are living in a war zone! 660,000 of their countrymen, including at least 90,000 civilians, have been killed by US bombs in our effort to "democratize" their country!. Why should the Iraqis trust us!? Why, 4!.5 million Iraqis have fled the country as refugees because they DON'T trust us! And the ones who were left behind are the poorer, less literate Iraqis (do you think they sit around and read the Houston Chronicle about what American troops are in Iraq for!? Iraqis only know that Iraq has been invaded by an army that doesn't keep the promises it makes)!.

It's not fair to judge Iraqis by Western ways of doing things, like 'pulling over!.' [In fact, in their places I wouldn't trust US soldiers or their allies either]!.

So I don't blame the Canadian soldiers, I don't blame the driver, and I certainly don't blame the innocent children!. I blame the government leaders--primarily the Bush administration--that took us into an ill-wrought, unfounded war, knowing that tragedies like this could and would happen!.

Like you say, 'wars should be avoided!.' By our supposedly caring and knowledgeable leaders!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Why didn't the driver pull over when told to!? The soldiers didn't know who was in the car!.

I understand what you're saying, and this whole fiasco would be avoided, along with many others, if wars weren't being fought, but if the driver had simply stopped the car when ordered to, he/she would have saved the children's lives!.

A similar thing happened in the UK, shortly after suicide bombers attacked the London underground!. A Brazilian man was ordered to stop by police and ran away, so they thought he was a terrorist and shot him!. If he'd simply stopped when asked he'd still be allive today!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

look at it this way, this war is cheap compared to
WW1, WW2, Korea, Vietnam, ANY of the wars since 1948 in Israel, ANYTHING that happened in Cambodia!. The fact is that as long as there is war this will happen, but this time around we have no concentration camps, forced exodus to the rural areas, Dresdens, Mass Suicides, Mass Starvation, Genocide, Extermination of POWs, Gulags, Slave Labor camps!. In this war there has never been a projected casualty rate of over 500 000 ( this was what they said would be our casualty rate when we land on the Japanese home islands in 1945- the Japanese were to expect to lose 3 to 4 million) The point is This situation is much more humane than previous wars!. Learn about Stalingrad, Lidiche, Manchria, The Bataan Death March, The Year Zero in Cambodia, Or Darfur!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

As long as there is good and evil there will always be war!. The only thing each of us can do to lessen that threat is to fervently and endlessly pursue peace!.!.!. You speak of war as in the world at war but there is war within each of us as we rage with our thoughts with anger toward others!.

If you cannot forgive the most evil men of their acts and you rage against the injustices of the world, you too add fuel to this flame of rage whether it be intent or not!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

it may be sad but its over with!.!.!.war isnt suppose to be pretty and fun!.!.!.it happens for a reason, you need violence to keep peace!.!.!.and the mother is at fault for this because she was driving the vehicle!.!.!.if you were put over there with a bunch of people you didnt know to have your back and were givin a gun you would have done the same thing!.!.!.its either kill or be killed!.!.!.or atleast the fear of itWww@QuestionHome@Com

Ok first of lets get this straight, the Canadian troops DID NOT kill them children, the person who was driving the car killed them by not stopping when prompted to!.
The mother is an idiot and blamed the troops instead of the driver!. Just put yourself in the troops position for a minute, you have been assigned to border control, your orders are to check passing cars for inspection then let them pass if nothing is found, if any car ignores these orders you are to kill on sight!.

These men did there job to the best of there ability and to them they stopped a potential suicide bomber who could of driven into a temple or shopping mall and killed hundreds!.
These men should be commended for there actions and there precise timing!.

I say damn anyone who supports the actions of the driver, he killed the children, not the soldiers!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
