No-one can know when the world will actually end!.

And we need an actual definition of what counts as the world ending!. If the the end of intelligent life on this planet then that has a much higher chance of happening that the complete destruction of the planet!.

Let's assume that the world will end in 2012 and there is nothing you can do about it!.

The 2012 end scenario is based off the Mayan calendar!. It is the end of the long count (there are both a long and short count)!. This calendar is governed by atronomy and the movements of the stars!. Dec!. 12 2012 is the winter solstice (an astronomical event) and also marks the movement of the galaxy and us moving into a new astronomical area!. Well will then be in the Aquarius constellation!.
