Question: Do you think suicide has an overall economic cost or benefit!?
Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:
In a suicide i think these are some of the economic costs:-
cost of (1) police manpower to conduct investigations, (2) medical personnel to try save the life [if suicide person did not do a good job of killing himself] and autopsy [not sure if required], (3) cleaners to clean up the mess, (4) loss of an individual who can contribute more to the economy [arguable since the person may not be contributing to economy]

economic gains for:
(1) cleaning company hired to clean mess, (2) undertakers

all in all, i would guess that it is an economic cost!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

In the "overall" scheme of things no one suicide matters much one way or the other!. Things pretty much go on with or without that person!.

Now, mass suicide such as in Kurt Vonnegut's "Welcome to the Monkeyhouse" is something else entirely since it is part of the economic system, same for Keith Ledger's which probably had a good economic effect because he was a movie "star" which is an economic entity!.

But generally, nah!. The only befefit is for the undertaker and the lawyers who have to sort out the estate!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

This question is morally repugnant!.

The economic impact of any or all suicides is irrelevant!.

We are made in the image of God, and there is no value that we can dare put on a life!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

yeah depending on the person!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
