Question: Clichés aside - Should you judge a book by it's cover!? or is there always more than meets the eye!?

Yes to both of your questions!. You will judge a book by it's cover because that it what your brain considers beneficial to your survival!. Any time you can be one step ahead of a potential threat is a good thing!. This is what evolution has given you!. And there is also more than meets the eye!. Naturally, after you instinctively judge some one/thing/situation, considering that you come out the other end alive, which in most cases is true, your brain will then begin to sift through other data, draw other conclusions!.!.!.see details that it initially missed in its rush to get ahead of what stood before it!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

It's da^^n near impossible not to make an impulsive, split-second first impression when you see or meet someone!. The trick is to look past all that, and get to know the person - see if there's "more than meets the eye"!. (Whoever first said "don't judge a book by its cover" probably had a guilty conscience!.)

On a related note, I'm sure I'm not the only one to say this!.!.!. I've known people who, on first impression, seem like great people but are in reality devil-spawn/cruel/two-faced!. Conversely, I've known people who, on first impression, you want to avoid meeting in a dark alley but are really the nicest/smartest people you ever want to meet!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

There is always more than meets the eye!. Say you meet someone, who is not to say that they are showing you only a certain percentage of who they are-- or only what they or you want to see; therefore, there is more then what meets the eye!.

It would take years (if ever possible) to show someone the total and complexity of who we are just by words and actions (our image)!. To know someone well enough to judge them (which I believe in acceptance over judgment) you would need to be able to read their thoughts, understand their cognitions and see beyond what is shown through external measures!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

most of the time you should!. it makes everything quicker, you'd probably be doing injustice to the person in question, but that's a part of human nature, and thats why life isnt fair, and never will be!. at other times you find the best things in your life when you ignore the books cover and read on!. of course reading on in every single sitiuation is extreemely tiring, so you should judge a book by its cover, but every now and then pick one with an unattractive cover and read on!.

im not speaking about books, this is wholly applicableWww@QuestionHome@Com

Yes and Yes!.

You should (and must) judge a book by its cover!. If you didn't you would be unable to judge which book is worthy of reading and society would become illiterate!. also, if no effort is put into a cover then it is logical to assume an equal effort is put into the contents!. A human cannot possibly read every book ever written, so we have to judge some by their covers!. That doesn't mean we are always correct in our judgement!.!.!.!. only that it is necessary and unavoidable (and mostly right)!.

Yes their is always more than meets the eye!. That doesn't mean an initial impression is incorrect entirely!.!.!.!. just needs to be more nuanced!. If I see someone running down the street with a chainsaw screaming about Jesus and naked from the waist down!.!.!.!. I think I will run away!. It would be very foolish to stop this gentleman and ask him a little about his history!. Thats because the cover tells us enough to make a good decision about his character!.

also, if you see someone dressed like a whore!.!.!.!. that doesn't mean they are one!. It does mean that they chose to wear the uniform of a whore!.!.!.!. so they would want to be perceived as a whore at the least!. What type of person would want others to view them as whorish!? Thats right, whores would!. So nine times out of ten when you see someone dressed whorish, it means they are a whore!.

The same is true of cops!.!.!.!.!. if you see someone walking down the street in a cops uniform you are probably correct in assuming they are a cop!. Maybe they are just a guy who likes to play dress up!.!.!.!. but your first guess is probably right!.

Never take life lessons from cliches doled out by morons!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

u'd think but not always, ther are some people out there that are just so open and honest about everything that their life is literally like an open book, waiting to be read, however judging someone or something is never cool, though everyone does it without the realization (ie)in todays society people are classified by their looks,color,clothes,shoes,money,family,f!.!.!. and styles, whether we mean to or not we all judge, its those who care to be different by standing out in a crowd or bothering to befriend someone being picked on whos different!.dare to tread where no one else has gone before and ull find theres alot more to life then ure average joe, or clicks!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

That depends what would change your opinion of someone and what wouldn't!. Take a really sleazy person - scams people, steals, promiscuous, ect!. Would knowing that they endured a really rough childhood change your opinion of them!? Would it change who they are!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

Chiches are the words of the wise!. Funny how people who don't live by them always have questions that never seem to satisfy the them, thus they live a life of continuous questioning, because they fail to realize the obvious!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Of course there is, thats like saying should you judge a CD by its cover!. You have to read the book or listen to the music before you judge!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
