Though this seems really cut and dried, the idea of destiny is much more of a romantic idea than the cold explanation of the dictionary!.

Many times especially, when people fall in love, they have a feeling that meeting this special person was ment to be, thus proclaming that it was 'destiny!.' That is the most common usage of the term in today's society! But then again, it is also used when something happens that was not on your agenda, or in your plans, and it turns out to be an extremely good thing, we just brush it off as 'destiny!.'
