Same reason everybody else does!. You just don't notice them because we're so much better at it!.

You'll notice all the Euros going on and on about Iraq, and about Darfur!.!.!. but you don't see any of them actually DOING anything about Darfur, without the US leading the way!.

It's the old catch-22!. They won't do anything without being led, but they hate whoever leads them for making them have to WORK so HARD! It's not FAIR! Waaaaaaaaah!

Herkk is right!.!.!. the US has one of the worst records in history, except for, you know, virtually EVERYBODY else!. (There are a few countries with better records, mostly countries that never actually do much of anything, for good or ill!.)

He's also right that the US supported some nasty people!.!.!. usually, against the even nastier people that the Soviets were supporting!.
