Question: Immortality versus Death!?
I asked this in the religious section (my mistake) and got a lot of religious answers!. As I myself am not religious, these arguments are mostly meaningless to me (although others may dispute that)!. So I'll ask it here!. If you had to choose, right now, between immortality or death!.!.!.which would you choose!? To me, the prospect of immortality is just as daunting as death (maybe more so)!. What about you!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

That is definitely a good question!. Death brings the fear of the unknown but Immortality brings the curse of the never ending!. I myself would choose death, even while not knowing for there to be an afterlife or my body being devoured by bugs!.

The only idea that would make me wanna be immortal is for a educational purpose, to see the rise and fall of great nations and to truly learn about humanity through its evolution in social, religious and cultural changes!.

I choose mortality because I don't think I could take the emotional stress to be attached to a person every century throughout the rest of my life!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

If I had an Edward to stay with me for eternity, I'd choose immortality in a heartbeat!.!.!.which is sort of ironic considering the whole vampire thing!.!.!.

But this is really a pretty hard question!. They both have their pros and cons!. For instance, with immortality, you have as much time as you want to learn and know whatever you desire, and the opportunity to see the future of our world!. But forever is a very, very long time!. So long that it's often said that human's cannot fully comprehend the idea of "eternity!." And with death, well, you don't have to face that very long eternity!. But death comes so quickly that it would almost seem worth it to extend that!. In the end, I think I would choose death!.!.!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Unless you are expected to die within the next 24 hours, both concepts are likely to make you anxious!. So many people, to avoid the boredom of the moment will create a state of anxiety!.

Immortality is a great concept to teach to frightened children with limited reasoning skills!. Death is nothing to find daunting!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Death
at least it ends!.
Couldn't cope with seeing all friends dying around me and having no family!.

Even being the last of humanity!.
It would be a very lonely life!.

Edit:
For post above, there's always the rules of immortality, one would be immortals cannot create life (have kids)Www@QuestionHome@Com

Immortality of course, that would be awesome, how could you turn down immortality for death!. Then again, if death extends consciousness in another frm other than human, then I might say death!. Otherwise death is death and is meaningless in providing anything other than non-existence!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

There are just too many problems and conditions with one human only being immortal: does one age normally!? do you make friends and lovers and family and see them age and die!? etc!. etc!. Better to be a hero/heroine in the regular old, time-tested tragi-comedy we call life!Www@QuestionHome@Com

Ooh very hard question!. I am on l1 so cannot thumb up or down!. I totally agree with Colten - if I had an Edward Cullen I would defiinetely choose immortality!.
But overall I would choose death!. Forever is a long time I would be depressed!. Surely death isn't so bad!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

i would choose death!. i don't like the idea of never getting old and dying while my friends and family do!.
plus, if you're immortal!.!.!. you never know when you'll hear someone behind you yell "THERE CAN BE ONLY ONE" and BAM!, you've just been beheaded!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

i would choose immortality!.
it's weird to think about death, because i do not know what will come!. but to live forever and see it all, i think that would be cool!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Death!. Don't get me wrong, I love my life, but I also know that when it's my time, I'll be ready!. Death IS a part of life, and I want to see what's next!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I agree
It would be a whole new world
Maybe best if I were to die (blank out all memories and conditioning) and get reborn into the new world because there is no way I could adjust to the idea of immortality in the present scenarioWww@QuestionHome@Com

death scares me, especially without any other worlds, so immortality!. immortality with the option to die!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Immortality with the option to die!. Once all my loved ones are gone and I've seen it all, to close my eyes forever may become an intriguing prospect!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I would only choose immortality if I knew that I had something to live for!. Otherwise I prefer death!. There's no point in living forever if life is pointless right!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

Immortality equals boredom; now death, there's something you won't grow tired of!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

HI

Very interesting choice!. I am
christian and do believe in God!. I think
he created this beautiful world and let
us use it while we are here!. He gave
us the way to reproduce and have our
children continue on with a piece of us
in them!.
So, I would say this immortality
may be a curse!. You would see everyone
you loved die!. You would see all of your
friends get old and die!. Your children
would die, that is something I think most
parents have a great deal of anguish
over!. You would be alone, you would
have no one in your life that could comfort
you or even care about you!. Life really
would be torture!. So as much as all of us
don't want to die, it's all part of living!.
What you do while your here, is who you
are when your gone!. If you put happiness
into someones life, then it was worth you
being here!. I hope to live a long and
healthy life and get to have a wonderful
time with my grandchildren!.

both of them have ups and downs!.!.

to be immortal, well, for one thing, you wont die ! but you'd have to see all of your family and friends die before you, and you'd constantly have to move!.!.!.plus you could never really be with someone you loved forever!.!.

and death is an experience we all go through together, no matter if we are really together or not, no one knows!. dying is a scary thought, seeing as no one truely truely knows what happens when you're gone, but to me, being immortal would be even scarier!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
