Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: needs are things imperative to your survival like water wants are things that make your stay on earth more comfortableWww@QuestionHome@Com Needs are things you basically cannot live without: food, air, drinkable water, shelter, clothing--those types of things Wants fill a material void in your life, but don't *sustain* your life: jewelry, computers, video games, tv, etc!. A need can also become a want when it's no longer a matter of simple survival: Food--Chateau Briant; Air that's been run through a purifier and scented w/ a freshener; Drinkable Water--Purified, bottled, flavored water, or soda, mixed drinks, etc!. (all were plain water at one point!.); Shelter becomes a 6 bedroom house with a 4 car garage, 3 bathrooms and a pool out back; clothing---all brand name with various accessories, etc!. Conversely: Something that once would have considered simply a want can become a need!. If you live on one end of a city and work on the other end and know of no other means of transportation, a Car is a necessity (need) in order to get to work!. If you cannot fulfill that particular need, then you can't fulfill any of the other basic needs!.
