I am once again surprised by the overall blasé attitude this generation seems to have towards life and responisibility!. The law is quite clear on this subject!. If you have fore knowledge of a crime, especially a murder, then you have a moral and legal obligation to either report the crime or try to stop it!. Knowing about a crime in advance and not taking steps to prevent it makes you an accessory to the crime!.

Period!.

But I suppose I at least understand!.!.!. this is the same generation that sat idly by watching their fellow classmate get tasered and did absolutely nothing except talk crap about it in blogs later!. You're all far too stuck in this "virtual" world!.!.!. you all need to come back to reality!. Being an American comes along with a number of responsibilities, and yes, someday someone may actually expert you to do something real!.!.!. something other than texting, blogging, or myspacing!.

Every American has the right to Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness!.!.!. these are more than just words!. I freely volenteered my life in service to defend this country and those very words both in Operation Dessert Storm and Operation Iraqi Freedom!. As an American, you ABSOLUTELY are responsible if you allow someone to kill another and do nothing to stop it!.

If you don't think the rights of others matter, then maybe you should find somewhere else to live!.

Only if you can stop them without risk to yourself and your family and your property!. For example, if you look out your window and see a man chasing his wife down the street with a butcher knife, you MUST call the police so she can be helped!. If you do nothing, and she is later found dead, nobody can prove you didn't help her, but you would be morally responsible!.

On the other hand, if you happen to be in a restaurant when a man at the next table pulls out a gun and threatens someone at his table, you are morally permitted to duck for cover and not thrown your body in front of the perpetrator's gun!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

You are only responsible for your own actions and inactions, not those of others!.

The other person is responsible for the murder, you are only responsible for not doing anything about it!. How you deal with that depends on what you and the law think about your responsibility!.

That's why we have such charges as "accessory to murder" and "accessory after the fact" and "aiding and abetting!."

Generally, though the answer is twofold!. If you can stop them without risking/losing your own life, you're at least partly responsible!.

If not, you aren't!.

Some people chose to risk their lives to save others, regardless!. If they try and succeed, we sometimes call these people "heroes!." If they try and fail, we sometimes call them "other victims!."

depends on who's asking!. That someone is going to waste a city, say, firebombing Tokyo, and you may disagree , doesn't mean your not going to fly that B-29!. It would be considered morally reprehensible to aid the Japanese by your side, and your trifling moral snit about it would be considered treason!. On the other side of the asle, it would be considered murder one if you drove the car for a person to machine gun a school of Jewish kids in a blase of anti-semitic hatred!. They'd give you a medal in Tehran, and the gas-chamber in Ca!. Technically responsible is a big issue!. When someone gives an ailing relative an overdose to send them on through the great divide, is it a mercy, or a play to grab the inheritance!? I believe the only measure that can spell the difference in moral certainty would be the amount of malice!. Raw, brute force evil, represented by malice would be the cutting edge between institutionalized homocide and murder by an individual, of an individual!. Foreknowledge of such an event, without response to prevent it would go hard in court and most might find themselves complicite in the homocide!. Homocide, to do it free and clear of fault, must be ordered by a government, and even then, your only clear of it, if the other government doesn't get it's hands on you!. Malice developed into murder would still be the yardstick with which capital one would be imposed, and everyone with knowledge of it, or who assisted in anyway would be considered guilty!. I am not responsible of others actions!. I can only tell them not to do anything bad but I cannot prevent it from happening if they don't listen!. Many times people just say things they do not mean!.
