It is way that our brains are constructed!.
I read a fascinating story in life magazine not too long ago about a women who could remember every single event in her entire life!. If you asked what she did, where she was, who she was with, what her conversations were, what she ate at what time of the day, etc, she could remember every single detail of that day!. I can't remember what the condition was called _____ syndrome of some sort!. There are only a few people in the world who are like this!. The reason for it is that their brains are constructed differently than the average person!.
This poor lady says that she could never put her mind at rest because of the constant memories pouring through her thoughts continuously - good ones and bad ones!. And of course the worst one was the loss of her husband a few years back!. She relived her grief and sadness every moment of her life!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

because like all memories, they fade with time!. it is not a matter of what the memories are, it is a matter of them constituting memories!. We remember things that we repeatedly place attention on!. If you have an instance you want to remember for a very long time, place your full attention on it as it occurs, and then attentatively replay it in your mind every day!. It will stay!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Maybe because we enjoy so much, even though we don't see it!. You might have enjoyed seeing a pretty flower but not remember it because it wasn't that important!. We remember things that really touch us somewhere and when something like that happens, and it seems so important, then we remember it!. We remember the things that we want to relive in our minds and share with others!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

For the same reason you don't register everything that you see or feel!. (Consider how uncomfortable you'd be just sitting in a chair that you never got comfortable in) These things would overwhelm you and your life would be miserable!. Your brain adjusts on your behalf!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Birdy,
I'd be willing to bet that science hasn't answered that question yet!. But the next best thing is to keep a journal!. If you're not much of a writer, just jot down 5 things a day you're grateful for, or that gave you joy each day!. That will give you a huge collection of great, happy moments to remember and share with your family!. Enjoy!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Most of our falculties goes into the most important area the present!. The memory falls short of reality almost immediately as it is a construct of perceptions not an interaction with a greater environment !. if we put more into the past our current abilities would eventually suffer !.Www@QuestionHome@Com

You remember much more than you know that you remember!. The total contents of your memory is not constantly available!. A memory that you are not aware of may pop up at any time!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

well pain is more memorable then joy!. So even though you truly enjoyed something, maybe a pain that was greater made that joy disappear!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Probably because we dwell on every painful moment in our lives!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
