Question: How long has it been since someone touched a part of your soul!?
Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:
I might say that quite often people touch parts of my soul!.
I am open to people's feeling and thoughts!.!.!.!.!.
The question is , how many of those who touched my soul, embraced it as well and stayed there for keeps!.
Very few!.!.!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Three (3) days ago, and on this very site, someone I do not even know, deeply touched a part of my soul!. I was part of seeing someone become open and honest, in realizing that she wasn't thinking thoroughly about a career that "looked" really good to her, from her (then) naive perspective!. I answered this person's question with brutal honesty, yet genuine sincerity!. Aside from hoping that this person would come to her senses, I never gave it another thought once I posted my answer!. Several people posted answers to her question!. Mine was the only one that differed greatly from the others'!. She found HER truth in my reply!. Her happiness, her relief, and beam of clarity, was so evident in her final comment to me, I will never forget it and I will always remember and root for her!.

Here's her question and my answer:

What makes a good nurse!?
Hey there - just trying to figure out if I should be a nurse or not, what kind of personal qualities/interests/skills, would best suit a nurse!?

I love people, I'm compassionate, I like to work with people and alone, I want a career that can fit in with my children (when they are in school)!. All the nurses I've meet seem to be really nice, friendly -born to do it- nurses, I never even thought of one till I had my kids!.!.!. do you think I'd be right!?

Quite honestly !.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.no!. I do not think you would "be right" for nursing!. Here's why:

Nursing is much, much more involved than being compassionate, loving to work with people, and being caring!. While most nurses DO possess these qualities, they are highly trained and medically skilled professionals first and foremost!. Nurses deal with a lot of trauma, quick thinking, oodles of medical knowledge, years of college, and work ridiculous hours!. It's not a 9 to 5 job by any extension of the imagination!. It's not something to do to fill your time while your kids are at school!. While I admire that you're intrigued with the medical field, it sounds like you're more interested in the 'caring' field!. Nursing is medical and technical!.

I would suggest that you obtain your NA (nursing assistant) certification, and work with elderly people/patients in a nursing home!. THAT is more of a place for the type of work that you have described in your question!. With your caring nature and compassion for people, you'd be perfect! Nursing homes desperately need caring and compassionate people like you!.

Best wishes with your career and family!.

Just today, when I got an e-mail from one of my contacts!. It isn't difficult to touch my soul, but as Alice pointed out that doesn't necessarily lead to the deeper connection of friendship!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

What do you mean by soul and touched!? Every answer you get will depend on different interpretations!. That is why philosophy tends to be so mushy!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
