Only in the sense that Thales 'kick-started' what would come to be known as Philosophy!.

Philosophy began with the rejection of traditional religion and the insight that man had to use his mind to discover the truths about reality!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I don't think anyone "kick started" Thales!. How would anyone have done so!? First, that person would have to have known about philosophy before Thales, in order to kick start him!.
