Well there have been many examples of this (not as many as the other kind though) in history!. They're referred to as "benevolent dictators" and they can be very good for a country for one big reason - it's faster to get anything (bad or good) done without the bureaucracy of democracy so when a benevolent dictator wants to build great infrastructure or some other beneficial act then it just happens because he says so!.

There is one overpowering reason NOT to support a dictator even if they are benevolent!. It has been seen time and time again in history and is the major reason why democracy is the best system we have yet to operate under!. Basically, a dictator might be great but what happens when he passes on responsibility!? Are his children spoilt!? Is the head of his army as nice as he was!? Any of these people can get the job and completely turn the country on it's head!

There is a great example of this in Roman history and I forget the name of the emperor unfortunately!. Perhaps someone else will help out here because I couldn't find it using google!. Anyway, basically Rome was on its knees and this emperor came along and did a fantastic job!. The emperor's son grandson and I think great grandson all came to power in turn and Rome progressed until it was at its most prosperous time (as far as I recall)!. Anyway then the final member of the family took the reigns and according to what I heard it would have been better had none of them ever come to power!

PS: I'm not sure but wasn't Rome not even a total dictatorship some of the time!? So if that was the case at this time then it would make the point even stronger!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

First off you start off with the proposition that their is a Dictator somewhere located on this planet who is a good person!. Your premise is nothing but a fallacy otherwise they wouldn't be a dictator!.
