Question: Advice needed! I was a very poor student in high school (Class of '81), but I am doing well in college!. Why!?
I started college at 45, and expected myself to continue to do poorly!. In fact, the opposite has happened!. I took 4 classes last semester, earned a 4!.0 (straight A's), made the Deans List, and received an invitation to join an honors society (Phi Theta Kappa)!.
I am startled by this, and frankly, don't know quite how to feel about it!.
Any advice you have would be very helpful!Www@QuestionHome@Com

The structure, most likely!. The public education process is more of a boot camp for interacting with others than a means of teaching children anything!. Einstein himself flunked out in third grade, I believe, failed math!. Became among the most important physicists of all time, ironically!. High School success isn't a good measure of intellectual potential!. However, you're quite likely ill-suited for the business world!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Sometimes experience is an excellent substitute for book learning!. Especially if you're taking classes in subjects your experience has allowed you to become familiar with!.

Or maybe you're just less distracted than you were in high school!. Less full of hormones, and such!. Hormones can be terribly distracting!. I almost failed algebra because of the girl who sat in front of me!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

first of all, congrats!.!.
college open up new perspectives in one of which U may find Ur self!. Supposedly U picked the 1 U R ready and 'd care 4, unlike high school where courses were imposed on U!. The college environment is different!. Ur age also was different!.If it does any good 2 u then some prominent figures as Einstein, Louis Carrol, and George Boole couldn't make it at the beginning ( elementary school)!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

It is because of maturity!. Life experiences mature us!. And High School was required by your parents and society!. College you picked for yourself!. Good luck!Www@QuestionHome@Com

Because in high school you were not interested in school!. You were a youth with a brain developing at an exponential rate of growth, hormones racing, and all that horrible puberty stuff!. You were distracted by just about everything and then had the terrible task of trying to figure out who you were and fitting in!. Ugh!

At 45 you are a different person!. You have maturity, experience, and some wisdom under your belt!. Your brain has stopped physically growing!. But your desire to learn and evolve hasn't!. You aren't distracted by hormones and newly forming sexuality and social identity!. You know who you are and who you want to be!. You are secure in your identity!. You have focus!. Your priorities are different!. You know what your desired outcomes should be and you'll get there, on your terms, when you are ready!.

No big deal!.

It's midlife grand!? It is for me!. (47 going on 48!.)Www@QuestionHome@Com
