Don't dwell on the misfortunes of the past!. Do what can be done to make things better!. If there's nothing you can do, let it go!. But file it under experience so it doesn't happen again!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

1!. Never eat a bologna sandwich on the toilet!.
2!. (in a fortune cookie) Someday you will step into a substance so horrible that you will have to throw away your shoes

The first is just common sense while I believe that the second one warned me of an impending divorce and the aftermath and that I had to prepare to "throw away" my former life and walk in a completely new direction!.
Things have worked out in my life so far and my appreciation of what I have is always foremost in my mind!.

Does it count if I didn't follow it and I now see how my life would've been so much better if I had!? A dear old friend used to tell us, "Make a list of the ten things you want in a marriage partner, and then don't settle for anything less!." If I had stuck to that advice, I would be much better off today!.

When I was a freshman in high school, my guidance counselor told me I was "an average B student!." I knew I could do better!. I hadn't been applying myself!.
It still irks me, after almost thirty years!.
