Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: I must disagree entirely, based on my own experience!. I worked at the same company for 12 years!. Because of the type of business it was, I met new people every day and dealt with people of many ethnic backgrounds and national origins!. However, also because of the nature of the business, all we ever discussed was the company and how I could make their jobs easier!. On the Internet, I have found people from all over the world who want to talk about all manner of things!. I realize that there are sometimes government imposed limits to what people are allowed to say, but this will change eventually as censorship is too difficult to maintain!. I could demonstrate to you how this adventure has changed my attitude and my general outlook more than anything in my past ever did!. I am a more well-rounded, not a more isolated person for the experience!.Www@QuestionHome@Com Yes in a way because people dont go out as they used to, and dont need to talk to each other face to face when they need something!. But it also leads to meeting more people than you normally would in a day and is still a way of socializing with others!. It all depends on the person and how much they use the Internet and technology!.Www@QuestionHome@Com While the internet has expanded our knowledge base, it's hindered us in a lot of ways!. You are most definitely correct!. I spend half my time on the internet telling people to talk face to face!. Not only has it isolated us, but it's made it harder for us to carry on a real conversation!. People don't know what to say anymore when they meet up in real life!.Www@QuestionHome@Com When I was young Africa, for instance, was a far of land I would only see on tv and in books!. Now the kids in Canada have friends online there and feel a unified connection around the world because they can experience other country through there computers and realize they are just humans too!.Www@QuestionHome@Com I don't think so!. Isolation is caused by the one who isolated himself, not the technology!. Ironically, internet opens a simple way for me to relate to other people that i do not know before or to connect with the known with least effort!.Www@QuestionHome@Com I think it can isolate people from their direct family, we spend more time with strangers then we do with those close to us!. Still I believe that we get to know many more people then we would have with out the Internet!.
