I think that the media and religion aren't really of the same order, or are they really comparable, because they don't exert their power over the same realms!.

Media exerts its power and influence over our supposed understanding of day-to-day events!. Religion, on the other hand, seems to exert its influence over our abilities to imagine and place ourselves with a particular provenance in the universe - either it be being placed there specially formed by Jesus Christ or whether it was by randomized permutations in the human genome!.

At this time the media has near defamed and destroyed religion!. Politicians too are bowed and servient to its unethical might!.

It stands as the voice of the people but is the enemy of the same!. It exalts minions and muses picked up fom dross and destroys the standing of clergy and preachers!.

i think Jesus based religions were designed to to fight media with media, precisely because media/propaganda was so powerful, and entirely controlled by the emperor!. they were a response to the roman empire!. a rebellion against it!. but since they didn't have freedom of speech in the roman empire, once they got their hands on Jesus they killed him!.

Confucianism was a little that way too i think!.

but i think buddhism predated media typed things and was just good philosophies from good ol' jolly buddha way back when!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Religion had long been here before developing media!. The birth of the first civilization is actually attributed to Religion!. Although nowadays the media plays a great role in communication but you cannot compare religion with media!.

If a person is in constant exposure to media, then for the majority yes!. Simply, look at the amount of money media makes compared to religion, and look at the influence of the media compared to religion, espescially on a political level!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
