One main difference is that philosophy IS an outlook on life, believing life to be mostly a series of questions that are/will be unanswered for an undeterminable period of time!. The importance and joy in life is found in the questions and not the answers!.

On the other hand, an outlook on life can be as varied as the number of religions out in the world right now and as personal as an individual's point of view on what they perceive life to be!.
