i mean successfully!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Yes it can!. Anarchists have conflicting beliefs as to what a successful anarchistic government is!. They however, all agree that for any anarchistic government to be successful people must live together in harmony!.

Utilitarianism (not altruism) is needed - for people to co-exist peacefully in any anarchistic state!. Doing good for the sake of doing good "altruism" will not help anarchy overcome its biggest challenge "the transfer of goods and services!."

Every aspect of a nations economy ie!. manufacturing, production, shipping, taxiation, workers hours/benefits, workers rights etc!.!.!.!. are all things that are regulated by a governments system!.

If there is no system whose to say that a dollar is worth a dollar!? That employees receive two 15 minute breaks and a 30 minute lunch!? That your property is in fact your own!? Why would people honor the laws of the land "stoping at stop signs, yeilding, going on green, etc" if there is no judicial system with laws, fines, and penalties in place!?

Its more important that people AGREE on rules, trade,
propety, privacy ect!. for the greater good "Utilitarinism!."Www@QuestionHome@Com

There has yet to be a successful civilization of any form!.

So, you're asking can there be successful anarchy without altruism!? Do we have to care for the needs of others above ourselves to have absolute liberty!?

I wonder if we can have altruism without anarchy!.!.!. Not until we have liberty can we choose to be selfless!. The more complete the liberty, the more powerful the altruism!.

Do as you will shall be the whole of the law!. Love is the law, love under will!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Yes it can!. Anarchy exists as a break down of government, of law and of justice!. Whereas altruism isn't a absolute of those three!. When and where anarchy occurs there might not any altruism around to justify the anarchy as meaningful but it still happens!.

Anarchy and altruism serve to different purposes and aren't reached by their polar opposite roots!.

Its like saying good can't exist without bad!. It can its just we've got nothing around to contrast and define it agasint!Www@QuestionHome@Com

I don't see why it needs it!. Anarchy would require shared values of respect, and some vigilanteism, but I don't think either of those are altruism!. Can you explain any more clearly!? I'm inclined to ask, can *government* exist without altruism!? Since living under government requires sacrifice from each citizen in order for government to exert its control that presumably is for the common good!. Unless you want to say the gov't "coerces" sacrifice!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Under the usual anarcho-capitalist scenario, there would be no government, however, companies would arise to function as security companies!. You, or a group of individuals, would pay the company security money and they would function to protect you and your businesses!. There would be no need for altruism because order would still be enforced, even without a government!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

maybe, but mst of the time, no!. The anarchist needs altruism to make his acts seem better, he needs someones sacrifice to believe he is right, and most anarchist are sadly not right in cause!. Without altruism, he would be forced to face facts, see the depth of what he has done, and for what little conscience remains give up on the cause they stand forWww@QuestionHome@Com
