for people who are new to this, all relgions are saying it would be the end of human existance and then scientific studies say there would be a polar shift, (the world would shift to another postion on its axis) and the mayan calendar is said to reset itself, bringing a new era!. too many coincidences!?Www@QuestionHome@Com Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: End!.!.!? Nah!. So, in the next 3 1/2 or 4 years will the world be different!.!.!? Probably not much different!.!. As for polar shifts!.!. it may have happened in past, and may happen again!. But!.!. the question is when!.!.!?!? The global warming is transferring large amounts of heat to areas not normally warm (arctic & antarctic) - that may reduce the ice mass at the north pole!.!. and add mass to the south polar cap!. We have many unexplained catastrophic events that happened over the years!. Fairly recently science became aware that this planet has had severe events that caused large loss of all kinds of life!.!. such as space debris (asteroids) and why were the wooly mammoths found frozen to death, with food still in their mouths & stomach!.!.!?!? The arctic once was a quite warm area!.!. and the great plains were once the high seas!.!. We'll just have to see what we can during our lifetimes ; - ) !.Www@QuestionHome@Com No, the world is not going to end!. Maybe a lot of changes might happen -- maybe catastrophic, but more likely, big only in retrospect!. I believe the world (if you mean, the universe) has no end!. The "end of the universe" would be like "the space in between moments!." Nonsense and inconceivable!. If you mean the end of human existence, I think not -- it's certainly possible, but I don't believe it's likely!. If the prophecy was for an asteroid impact, well, I might be more inclined to worry!. But it's just for a conjunction and the end of an astronomical cycle; cycles, by definition, begin again as they end!. I don't pretend to know what all the ramifications of a polar shift are, but if that happens, I doubt it'll kill off humanity, immediately or ever!. Eschatology comes and goes like a fad throughout history, and it's particularly hot right now, but that doesn't make it any more likely to be true!.Www@QuestionHome@Com I believe that the world, life, as we know it is going to end much sooner than 2012!. There are too many things happening in the world today that could very easily result in the annihilation of human life!. Even if we don't annihilate ourselves, we cannot continue on the path we are on and expect things to remain as they are!. We are not going to need any help from nature to destroy ourselves!. The mayan calendar is meaningless and the polar shift is a fairy tale!. Can't you feel it in the air!? There is an undeniable feeling that SOMETHING is about to happen!. We are racing toward destruction and no one seems to know how to put the brakes on, or even where the brake peddle is!. Why do you think so many people are asking these kinds of questions!? You would have to be blind not to be able to see what's going on and realize that none of it is good!. I have way too many things to do in my life for the world to end so suddenly!. 2!. Preachers and fanatics have been saying the world is about to for the last!.!.!. gazzillion years! And 3!.
