Destiny refers to a predetermined course of events, ie: a predetermined future, whether in general or of an individual!. It is an idea based on the belief that there is a fixed "natural order" to the universe that is inevitable or unchangeable!. However, fate, although very similar, claims that individuals choose their own destiny by choosing different paths throughout their life!. Fate is also used in regard to the 'finality' of events, as they have worked themselves out!. However, destiny and fate both imply "ones lot" or fortunes and include the sum of events leading up to an acheived outcome!. To sum up, there is very little difference between them!.!.!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

The way I see it, and this is opinion and not fact

Destiny is an optimisitc term--its like fate but as if you are in control of it

Fate is a pessimistic term, it seems to be a destiny that you cannot control--cannot escape

I hear them used often in terms of optimism and pessimism:

You are destined for great things vs You are fated to die in battle!.

When you switch it around, it sounds a little out of place!.

This is a question I asked myself a lot!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

They are twins and they are both fantastic!. I just can't choose between them!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Destiny and fate are not the same thing even though they been used many times in the same context!. But destiny is something that we hope to accomplish and might happen but fate is something that will most likely happen!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Destiny simply means the inevitable fate, Its predetermined, a course of events that will happen, beyond your control!.
Fate is the power that causes your destiny!.
Or, the way you put it!.!.!.fate is what will happen, destiny is how it happens!.
<shrug> suffice it to say I deny both principles because they cheapen life and all its myriad moments of wonder, joy and beauty into a staged event where stringed puppet goes through the motions until the end!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Destiny ------you are going to die,,,if you creep on kiddy's you are destined to go to jail,, if you pull the trigger at yourself, your destined to get shot Fate ---- if you stay on the path that you are presently walking you're fate could turn out well, One is defined by - the out come will be this end result,,,,,,,,,,,,the other is defined as -if you do this this can be what happens if you decide to continue!.!.!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I think the major difference is that fate is fatalistic!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.meaning that you cannot control the events of your life and regardless of whatever decision you take, the end result is bound to be the same and according to classical greek belief!.!.!.!.!.its usually a doom ahead!.

On the other hand, destiny accomodates self intervention meaning you can decide what your own end story will be like!.!.!.!.!.

hope this makes senseWww@QuestionHome@Com

Your answer is correct! I think fate is like when you make a decision (good or bad) that decision will have certain outcomes!.!.!.!.!.fates

Destiny is what is going to happen!. Your destiny is already set from the day you are born!. From the day you were Born "destiny" knew all of the decisions (good or bad) you are going to make!.

so the difference is fate is the outcome of a decision!. and destiny is what is going to happen no matter what!.

Fate is chance, destiny is predetermined before life!. Destiny determines fate, although fate can be changed, indirectly, through the changing of destiny!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Destiny = Fate!.

Both are synonymous, since they both are a predetermined end!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

They are synonyms, but have small, mundane, differences!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
