I agree!. If that Baird guy hadn't invented the television, somebody else would have!. It was just a matter of time!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

But then you have to be inventive *with* those materials!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

You're absolutely right (but remember that certain combinations of materials are not found in nature - there is an element of creativity, even if no brand new thing is ever invented)Www@QuestionHome@Com

Yes there is no orginality, only synthesis!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

there are man made inventions, however, there is NOTHING new under the sun!.!.!. Read Ecclesiastes!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Yes!.
Some religions attack solutions as they are human creations and not natural/god, and yet the human mind is natural as natural/god can be because we didn't have any say in itWww@QuestionHome@Com

No!. A discovery identifies a force!. An invention applies the force toward a practical purpose!.
An invention is a genuine invention!. The concept of the television didn't exist before it was invented!. Nature never thought of it!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

In a way yes coz you can never invent something out of nothing!.!.!.one has to use what is at hand or have a frame of perspective of what is at hand to even come up with an idea!.
To materialise the idea has to be framed with what is available in the material world!.

However I do agree God did his part of creation ,he created man rational, inventful and industrious so we take over from him!.We have to give due credit to ourselves when we invent somethingWww@QuestionHome@Com

No, there is still a legitimate distinction between invention and discovery!. Nature may have provided wood, but man thought of making a dog house!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

First of all, it is the knowledge of various elements, of their specific attributes, physical and chemical characteristics, the precise understating of their behavior under various conditions of pressure and temperature, then above the realization of the need for something, a view vacancy for something to be where there initially was nothing, then a lengthy process experimentation, trial a error, to reach the fulfillment of a need or necessity, is what invention means in my understanding!.

I think it would be playing down the prowess of human ingenuity, imagination and resilient hopefulness if we called inventions just discoveries!. Discovering is a matter of finding things out, whereas inventing includes creating things anew, for the start, where there were none before!. There is no doubt that all inventions are made possible due to scientific discoveries and thereupon expansion of human understating of all things simultaneously, but discoveries are seldom made without a purpose or use further along the way in view!.

I could also assume that there are the same hundred or so elements, containing same electrons, protons and neutrons, formulating same compounds all too familiar to us!. Then what is the big deal if an entire universe has been made out of all this!. We can then say that universe was not created but discovered!. But then what we think and ask about the order, the harmony, and the subtle balances that exist among components of every machine, for instance, from where do they come!? Where did come the designs and patterns and articulations of letters into meaningful words, and words into sentences, who does all this and for what purpose!?Www@QuestionHome@Com
