If you make a statement based on false information have you told a lie!? When is a lie a lie!? What is the truth!?

It is all a matter of perception!. Speak to what you know and discuss not what you know not!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Never lie!. It's better on the conscience!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

well in some cases you shouldn't tell a lie because it might hurt someones feelings in the near future, for example your friend asks you if he/she looks good in some shirt yet the person looks horrible in it, you can't exactly say yes because than that person might wear that shirt the next day!. So i would i say "the shirt looks good but i bet we can find something more your style"!. In some cases you wouldn't say the truth either because maybe the person doesn't want to hear the truth!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

When I was younger, I was told to always tell the truth, that way, when you lie, people believe you!. But to answer your question, there are ways to not tell a lie, and at the same cleverly dodge the truth!. Not answering the question altogether is the obvious one!.

BUT

The truth, like beauty, is in the eye (or ears in this case) of the beholder!. Bending the truth to a certain degree can create a lie, but if you know the limits of truth-bending you can use it suit the need of the question!.

Example!?

"Dave, are you drunk!?"

"I've been drinking!."

Keep the answer ambiguous, and it's hard to find truth or lie in it! He did not say yes or no!.
