Question: Do you think in the future, will there be civil war with genetic engineered humans!?
this is just some crazy hypothesis i thought about

if you look at the communist manifesto by karl marx, there is a
theroy that the lower class will rise up against the higher class and cause a civil war!. so lets put genetic engeneering into this!. Suppose the super-humans in the future are the higher class and is treatin regular humans like scum, do you think the lower class will rise against the higher

i just want an opinion in this (and i go to high school so yea)Www@QuestionHome@Com

In theory, I could see your point!. Genetic engineering would definately create a strict class of people that could afford the techonology and those that could not!. Assuming that it wasn't available to all, it would widen the gap between the rich and the poor!. Marx basic assumption is that as this gap widens, the workers (non-engineered) will get more and more disgurntled until they rise up!.

In practice, the common folk very rarely rise up against the powerful unless there is harsh oppression or extreme poverty!. Assuming that the US stays in its current government system and economic status!.!.!. I can see anger, but I can't see civil war!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Well, Marx's writings are more dogmatic than factual or reality-based!. Generally, the lower class will only rebel against the higher class if they are either really much worse off (I'm talking 3rd-world here), or if they're sufficiently provoked and prodded by the leftist politicians (who of course are only using the lower class to ensure their own power)!.

I think in the future, the haves and have-nots will be defined not by how much money or goods they have, but by how much knowledge they have!. All the big advances in society are the result of scientists, engineers, people in the various computer fields, etc!. Knowledge truly is power, and that will only be more true in the future!.

On the other side of the equation, you have the anti-knowledge crowd: creationists trying to dumb down and dilute science, anti-genetic modification luddites fighting against biotechnology, and anti-"big pharma" people whose policies would greatly dampen new drug and medical R&D!.

I don't think there's much need to worry about any future super-humans treating regular humans like scum!. Super-humans would be more intelligent, more civilized and more enlightened, and thus LESS likely to engage in hate and violence!. (Hate & violence have always been the tools of the more barbaric part of humanity!.) If anything I think history has shown that it is the lower class--in this case, regular humans--who treat their others like scum!.

I think once super-humans become "super" enough, they would probably want nothing to do with regulars and might all just migrate into space, or start a new country of their own!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
