For me this saying is more symbolic than literal!. To me it speaks about objectivity!. It is my opinion that many people fail to perceive reality as anything else than face value, common belief, or the concept of 'normality'!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Nope!.!.!. and for those who say yes!.!.!. Prove itWww@QuestionHome@Com

you are stupid!. you got that question from the fairly odd parents!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

The bear who is sh-tting in the woods will hear it!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

No, nothing exists except through human consciousness!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

It is glaringly true in this age of Armageddon and spiritual darkness, If a burning effigy or god or tree were to fall, none would see or be able to hear!.

Some are unwilling to hear as they have no way of assisting or helping the tree!.

Some are in cahoots with the carpenters furniture company and have much to gain from the logs!.!.

Some are too traumatised and angst ridden to discuss openly the topic!.

The carpenters service industry is in line to make a handsome profit from the off the cuff chippings and grands designs that will inevitable be cut from the tree!.

Humanity screams silently!. Business is business!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Yep!.
It is in our atmosphere and it will vibrate the air whether we are there or not!. The air will still move regardless of the lack of human population: the vibrations sent through the atmosphere (read air) will make a noise!.
Just because some fool philosophy student isn't there to hear it doesn't negate the science of the planet!.
If a crab-apple falls from the tree in the middle of the forest and no one saw it does the freaking apple still fall!? Does gravity cease to exist on one part of the planet because we (read humans) are not there!?
No!.!.!. gravity is still there and so is our atmosphere and so the tree will make a noise regardless of who is and who isn't there to hear the noise!
Has anyone here ever heard of squirrels, deer, moose, beavers, blue jays, porcupines, foxes, wolves, elk, and other creatures of the animal kingdom!? They too have ears you know, and they are sure to hear the falling fricken tree !.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.
EDIT: GO AHEAD JAY !.!.!. LET US KNOW WHERE THE BALD SPOTS ON THE PLANET ARE; YOU KNOW, THE PLACES WHERE WE HAVE NO GRAVITY NOR ATMOSPHERE WHEN WE AREN'T THERE!? SHOW US WHERE THEY ARE AND PLEASE USE SOME VALID PROOF!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Hmmm!.!.!. mind boggling!.

err!.!.!.!.

Well, technically yes!. Well we know this because of the data that we have on falling bodies (or trees)!. Like if something has a heavy mass, and you drop it, it will make a thud when it falls on the ground!. It doesn't have to be a tree either!.

To just humor everybody, when we watch documentaries about nature and falling trees, we hear a sound of it falling down (squeaking trunk) and the branches and leaves that would also bring about some vibrations in the surrounding environment when it hits the ground!.

With these things in mind, we can actually conclude that it does make noise when it falls, even if nobody hears it!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

"Noise" is restricted to ear-sensing!.
"Vibration of air molecules" occurs regardless of presence or absence of ear-sensors!.

It isn't observed so no!. Unless you iignore the technology we can use to detect bibrations of the tree when it fallsWww@QuestionHome@Com

No, but it does misplace the air causing airwaves!. If no eardrum is there to capture it and no brain to interpret it, it isn't a sound!. :-P

Human Bias 101!.

Of course, if there is some other being around with auditory apparati, then yes, it makes a sound!. hehehe!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

When a person dies, does he stop breathing if no one is there to watch him die!?

It is the arrogance of humanity to assume!.!.!.no!.!.!.to INSIST that all things happen at the whim of Mankind!. Therefore, the adage of a tree falling without being heard is inane and inconceivable to most humans!.!.!.because it's not RELEVANT!. Of course, these are the SAME humans who never walk into the woods at all!

When is the last time anyone escorted one of these geniuses into a forest and asked them to identify all of the sounds they hear!? Do they generically hear "birds and crickets"!.!.!. and "trees falling"!.!.!.or do they know the voice of the Whippoorwill at dusk, and the Virginia Peepers croaking by a pond in the early evening!? Can they tell the difference between the aggressive alert calls and the plaintive sing-song whistles of the Eastern Chick-a-Dee!? DO they hear trees!.!.!.or do they sense the footfalls of deer away off in the deep forest!?

If a tree falls down in the woods, and no human is there to hear!.!.!.does Nature care!? ;-)Www@QuestionHome@Com
