Let's say you're in a powerful world position, and you could see that in ten years the human race would blow up the earth, and the only way to stop them from destroying the human race is to enslave them all, which would rip them of their freedom, but save their lives!. Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: This is tricky!. Neither has a very pleasant outcome!. If it were me personally, I would chose to let the earth blow up!. Nobody wants to live in slavery the rest of their lives - and that's really what you would be sentencing them to!. I know I would rather enjoy my time on earth even if I knew an end date!.!.!.it would probably inspire me to live my life in a better manner even!. When you know your time is limited (and this can really apply to so many things) you will usually make the best of it!. It's sort of like the argument about the death penalty versus a life sentence without parole!. Which is really the more severe of a punishment!? When you get put to death, you're dead!. You're done paying your dues in this life!. But being in a cage for the rest of your life!.!.!.might not really be a better choice!. Sure, you are alive!.!.!.but you have no freedom!. I wouldn't want to trade that for all the cable TV, snacks from the commissary and free healthcare in the world!.Www@QuestionHome@Com Why would we live if we are given no freedom or happiness and just wait to rot and die!? I would rather live ten years with freedom and then die, rather than exist on the earths surface but have a dead soul!. Plus maybe there could be some degree of freedom within the enslavement!. People could still learn and communicate and have children!. They would need to reproduce to keep the race going!. I'd ration out as much freedom as possible to the enslaved people!.Www@QuestionHome@Com Provided I'm not enslaved with everyone, and get to be in a leadership or majority role, I'm okay with the whole enslavement bit!. It saves lives, right!? If the world blows up, everyone loses!. Isn't it better to have people alive!? Besides, who are we kidding, even if people were enslaved - eventually they would rebel!. Makes you feel really Free, doesn't it!?!.!.!.I'd rather move back to the Indian Reservation and birth free children!.Www@QuestionHome@Com If you enslaved the human race just long enough that the generation that knows how to blow up the earth dies out, you could free the rest of the human race and have all the time it would take for them to figure out how to blow it up again!. That way the enslavement would last a few generations at most!. Like regressing their knowledge to the point they no longer have the capability to blow up the earth!.Www@QuestionHome@Com Where is it that in our quest for security and happiness we must sacrifice all that we have!? Sacrifice all of our beliefs!? It's almost like if you would give up your freedom of speach or to bear arms to protect the world from being destroyed!. If we strip away the very things which make us free then what is the point living anyway!? I actually remember a game when I say this, yeah believe it or not a video game which has some deep moral and ethic dialogue and thoughts!. It's about a man who must decide to take away the very things (freedom in his world) that he wished to enjoy in order to protect his world from outsiders who threatened it, but he asked himself if it was worth it to strip away all that he believed in to maintain the world he created!. In the end I think his last words were: "!.!.!. but drastic times call for drastic measures and!.!.!." that's all I can remember!. If you want to know the name of the game it's Bioshock, very good, but also very violent, but also very interesting!.Www@QuestionHome@Com I would chose the world blowing up in 10 years because it's done quickly, and it would only cause pain for a few moments!. I wouldn't tell anybody it was going to happen though, so people could be happily oblivious!. I wouldn't chose enslaving the human race indefinitely because that would cause a lot of suffering!. Unless they were slaves for me, of course!. I hope I never get put in that position, however!. :)Www@QuestionHome@Com |
