I owned a Spider 3 30W!. In Insane channel, it sounds not quite good for me!. Does anyone know how to set it!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

1) Turn down the gain - seriously!. I hate this channel, I think it sounds like crap, but if you lower the gain it should sound a little better!. More gain tends to equal more noise, less clarity, and a flatter sound (although you do get more sustain), so pulling back on the gain should help your tone breathe a little better!.

2) Turn the volume on your guitar down!. Perhaps not pushing the amp as hard would help!?

3) Raise your pickups, max your guitar's volume!. Maybe pushing it harder and turning the gain waaaay down will help chunk up the tone a bit more!. Seems reasonable to me, that's the way it works with most other amps!.

4) Don't use the Insane channels!. My preferred solution!. =)

In general you want to have a lot of treble, medium mids, and lower bass - this helps you perceive the sound better!. Try not to cut your mids too much, while this helps you get a scooped sound, it lowers the volume, which can alter the tone to the extent where you just won't sound good, period!.

You may also try messing with your pickups beyond just raising/lowering them!.!.!. I specifically slant my pickups, where the bass side (ie the part under the thick/bass/bottom strings) is lower than the treble side!. This helps the top strings pop a bit, which is good for soloing, and helps keep my rhythm manageable, ie, not too muddy or farty or dark or whatnot!. Bass control is very important when you're trying to get a tone that will cut through the mix!

!.!.!. Good luck!

If you want good distortion on a Line 6 amp, don't use the insane setting, use metal!. The sound is so much better!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
