It is not tone deaf!.It is because the wind from your lungs and vocal cords vibrating to mae them sounds cause extra vibration in your ear drums to cause a distorted sound!. Which you most likely notice that when you record yourself talk you sound different to your self!.

It happens to everyone but with work and effort when you can match notes and pitches singing it will sound like an echo to you when you sing with music!. But that is with practice and hard work to gain that ability to tell different pitches apart and different notes!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Most of these people are correct!. Everyone who has done it feels pretty much the same!. Nobody likes the sound of their own voice played back to them!.
They really don't hear anything different than you do!. Except you are a lot closer to the source, so your head is resonating to your voice so you may sound more "bassy" to yourself, and a little tinny to those listening!.

But how you perceive yourself when listening to yourself is a much different reaction than those who aren't you!. Because true musicians are usually their own toughest critics!.
I can't stand the sound of my own voice on recordings either!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

To be honest I don't think its that we hear differently!. I think its because people hear us sing and then they either give a positive comment or a negative comment and then it either makes them feel good about it if they've been given a good comment or they feel really bad and feel as though they can't sing because someones said they can't sing and people just take it on board!. Theres some ridiculous auditions on X Factor not only because the producers put them through to the auditions for entertainment but the reason they've auditioned is because they've sung infront of someone and they've told them they're really good but actually they're really bad and they don't realise because in their head they think they're good because of what people have said!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

yes it is very true as the spread of the sound waves vary from what we hear and what others hear!. Lol!.!. this topic never really cam to my mind before!. If u want to check, implant a mic in ur nasal cavity then record yourself speaking and record your self speaking again from the other view!. Shud clear things up i guess!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Im not sure!. Probably because I heard that when you talk you arent actually sound like you think you are!. And whenever I'm being filmed and we watch it, I sound way different than I think i did!. I think it's the same with singing too because I watched my performance and I sounded different there too!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

yes!. if u have any videos of urself just listen to what you sound like, compared to what u think u sound like when u just talk to someone face to face!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Yes!. The acoustics in your own head are quite different from hearing your voice from an outside source!. Want proof!? Record yourself, and listen!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
